Air condition not working on a 2000 chevrolet 1500 z71

I had compressor, condensor, drier replaced in Aug 07. Now March 09 I had front carrier, transmission and transferred case replaced. When I left the shop the following I turned on my A/C and didn't get cool.

I do here the switch trying to engage when I push the a/c button. However the compressor and lines do not fill cold. "Hoping" that it just needs refrigerant but since it is only 18 months old that probably isn't likely. Is it??

Could be a number of things, the most common one would be a leak somewhere in the system. It is designed not to run when the refrigerant charge is lower than a preset amount. A simple check would be to check for blown fuses related to the A/C (e.g. Refrigerant compressor clutch fuse). Other than that you probably will have to bring your vehicle to a shop that services A/C systems for a thorough diagnosis.

Not sure what to do but the 2000 chevy silverado 1500 Z71 V8 truck that i have wont take in gas. we thought that it was the fuel pump so we replaced that and the fuel filter but the truck still wont start....

Did you check the voltage to the pump to insure it was getting full power? Check the fuel pressure regulator? Also take a manual fuel pressure reading. A faulty crank sensor will also cause a no start condition.

This morning my 2000 Z71 Silverado 1500 had trouble starting. It took about 3 attempts, then started sputtered and die. On the 4th attempt I pumped the gas, held the engine rev about 3500 then it was fine....

May be a problem with the mass air flow sensor located on the air cleaner assembly. Dust particles sometimes collect on the very small resistors on the MAF Sensor. Buy some electronic dust spray you use for computers and spray the resistors. Be carefull not to touch them, they are very sensitive. Thanks.

When you change from heat to air , it still blowes hot air like it is not switching to air conditing, the compressure is running and lines get cold, but no cold air. thanks

If the orifice filter is clogged, this will happen, a better check can

be done with an ac manifold gauge set, the low side reads the

evaporator pressure and the high side reads the discharge

pressure. I had the same problem while checking the ac on a

2000 gmc 1500 z71 4x4. other things that could cause this are

to much oil in the ac compressor or not enough freon in the

system. an overcharged system , the best way to check it is with

a gauge that way you can tell if you have the right amount of freon

and oil in the system. plus the gauge set will let you know the

extent of your problem. good luck!

How do you find your vaccum leak in your truck i have 2000 chevy silverado z71

You can use a piece of hose and put one end to your ear and pass the other end over the hoses on the engine making sure not to get caught up in the fan or any moving part while the engine is running and listen for air whistling or leaking.

2004 chevy silverado z71 quad cab. will not cool need wiring diagram. I replaced the heater core and now the mix door will not open when air conditioning selected on. I have confirmed all wiring...

The door you are talking about has an actuator motor on the bottom of the blower box, look in the middle, under the dash, that will be the one, make sure it is plugged up,if not,it may need replacing.

Power window on my 2000 chevy silverado z71 won't go up

I also had the same problem on my 2000 Silverado 1500 Z71....on both doors!!! I found the best solution (even though I didn't have the money) was to get it fixed by a good mechanic who wouldn't screw up anything else in the process. Passenger side went first...then a year later, drivers side fell half way down. He researched the solution on his own...found out you have to buy the whole window motor assembly. After labor....300 bucks each window...OUCH!!! Bought my truck new in 2000. Window problem happened in 2006 then in 2007.
