Im working on 04 jeep grand cherokee lanardo. when you slow down and get to a speed of 20 or less you can hear a clicking noise. sound it is coming from front driverside or front diff. i went through and cleaned and replaced brake pads and pad retaining clips on both sides. there is some free play when u turn the front diff. input shaft before wheels turn. (less then quarter turn). when backing up the front bake lock up when peddle is applied hard. when u shift transfer case into 4 wheel the clicking changes to a squeeck. (lick wet rubber on steel) im not sure were this clicking is or could be coming from. all fluid leves are good?

Have you checked the main front drive shaft from the transfer case to the diff ? It sound's like it may have a rusty u-joint.

Grinding noise....sounds like metal

Check the disk brake pads. At slower speeds you can hear them squeak because there is less wind and road noise. The other possibility could be a bad u joint at the ends of the axle half shafts on the front differential. Check both. I really doubt it is the transfer case. You transfer case is engaged all the time. The axle is locked and engaged when you flip the lever by a vacuum motor on the axle shaft on the differential.

2000 jeep grand cherokee, only blow out a little air even when the blower on hi,,you have to put your hand next to the vent to feel the air

you may have had something fall down into the defrost vent and it has worked its way down and is blocking the air flow thats trying to come out the vents, near the blower motor.also does it sound like the blower motor is spinning on high speed or at a lower speed, you could have a slow turning blower motor.

My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee makes a clicking noise from dash broad as i decrease in speed. Stops once vehicle has slowed down

Have you checked that the speedo and the rev counter still give steady readings, if you can notice a slight "judder " on either then that is where the noise is coming from. Must be one or the other is speed related.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have a Whining noise in my front end area, seems to go away when turning to the left. Also I have a strange clicking noise mainly under braking, but when you have the...

This noise is more likely caused by the iiner constant velocity joint. When turning the axle makes a franction of an angle in which no perpendicular to the ground. You'll gonna need to have it check as there is a possiblity that the wheel drum or axle assembly might come off when driving in high speed to avoid accident.

Had service 4 wheel drive light now their is clicking noise from the dash we think relay but what one on tran or inside dash

Hi Steward,

It's unlikely a relay is producing your symptoms.

The on the fly 4WD in the Cherokee is engaged inside the front axle. If for some reason it doesn't fully engage, it produces a clicking sound until it either fully engages or disengages.

If that clicking you are hearing gets more rapid as you increase speed, slows down when you do, then that's what it is.

A vacuum leak is the likely problem, easy to fix, difficult to find.
I have a Cherokee. I had the same problem. Start checking vacuum lines that lead under the engine to an actuator attached to the front axle.

Good luck,
Mike
