Question about Chevrolet C1500

1 Answer

The hood latch cable is broke under the hood. There seems to be no way to access it. Grille removal wont help as there is no access to the fasteners above the plate the bracket fasteners mount into. Is there a trick?

Find a pickup the same year and model. With this hood open, Take a coat hanger and bend the hanger to the correct shape to snake into your pickup and hook onto the hood latch. Practice a little on the hood open, partial closed etc until you are comfortable snaking this into the latch.

2001 Jimmy hood cable broke. Can't open hood. How can we get it to open?

If you lay down beneath vehicle access to latch may be gained using a long needle nose plier to release latch between vehicle grille and radiator or tranny fluid cooler. Also might be accessed thru grille.

Hood cable broke or came loose on 1992 coupe deville cant get hood up

You'll have to try going thru the grille or from under the bumper to access the hood latch.
You might want to look at another GM product to gauge were the latch is in your car.
Sometimes you can use a coat hanger as a hook to pull the latch from outside the grille or between the grille and hood. Or use a long screwdriver from under the bumper.

Hood does not open

The latch could be stuck or the cable broke. You might try bumping the hood with someone pulling on the release.
Otherwise you may have to remove the grille to access the latch.

Broke hood latch on 94 voyager, can not get to cable to pull on. What can i do to open hood.

That is a problem, have to try and grab the cable from under the dash or behind the grille, try to see how it pulls the latch and get a screwdriver in it to release it wont be easy, keep oil or something on it to keep latch working free after getting it open....

Broken hood latch cable S-10 chevrolet 2000 can not open hood

The best way to gain access is to remove the grille. Look in the holes of the grille and you'll see screws that hold the grille in place. Unscrew these and pull the grille out, then you can gain access to the bottom side of the hood latch with a screw driver to pop it open.
When replacing the release cable, be sure to grease the wear points at the latch and where the cable connects.

1994 Lexus LS400 Broken Hood Cable - Hoe could I replace?

you have to route cable along the fender side under the hood like on battery side. you have to run it where it wont get in contact with drive belt.your cable has a ball of metal at the end of it.your hood latch should have a clip where you put your cable in it.you should not have to remove nothing.just drop cable in place.

Hood latch

There is no other way to release the hood other than either trying to reach the latch release from under the car or removing the grille.
