Question about 1996 Audi A4

Open Question

Your advice I'm planning on doing what you suggested (follow the hose from the reservoir to find if there is a leak), but what do I do once I figure out if there is a leak? I'm a girl, not that its an excuse, but I'm stereotypically clueless about cars. Rescue me please ;)

How do I fix leaky coolant hose on 03 denali?


If you are seeing pools of coolant under the truck, you can probably find the leak pretty easily by opening the hood and seeing where it is dripping or get under the car. Fixing it depends on how handy you are and where the hose is located, depending on how dirty you want to get. Once you figure out which hose is leaking, let the engine cool completely. Normally, just a hose clamp on each end which you squeeze with pliars to slide off the pipe or unscrew. May take a little work if they have been on a long time. Get a new one at Autozone or Advanced or similar. With an 03, if you are planning to keep it a while longer, recommend you change all the coolant carrying hoses. If one blew, rest are probably close behind and 11 yrs is a long time for a hose. You don't want to get stuck on the road smewhere.

I just corrected the same problem. Put it on a rack and check these areas: all hose connections

2000 Pontiac sunfire leaks water and overheats. Water pours directly out near the reservoir as soon as I pour it in.


you have to figure out where the leak is first and u cam add water while running just dont do it when car is hot

Windshield washer hose is leaking under the fender. Do I have to romove the fender to replace the hose?


Hi,
Don't spend your time removing something that is not relevant to the problem.
The hose can be pulled easily from underneath of that washer reservoir.
First thing is to find out why the washer fluid leaks, look for the cause of the leak.
If the leak is in the reservoir, just remove the reservoir and check it.
If the problem is in the hose line, remove the hose from the "Y" connection between the two washer nozzle and pull the hose from the main outlet of the tank washer.

Hi. Your power steering pump hoses are closed looped. They run from the pump assembly to the reservoir.They do not run to any of your oil lines. Now, with that said, i would recommend to inspect your assembly for possible leaks. This is a high pressure setup that will produce leaks during hose or clamp failure. The reservoir can crack as well. This will cause fluid to leaks on the engine block or exhaust manifold, thus, causing the white smoke or burn off affect. Use the procedure below to inspect for possible loose hoses or compromised pump seals and reservoir issues.



Once you have staged your vehicle in a safe place, open the hood and locate your power steering system on your vehicle. The easiest way is to follow the part of the steering column assembly that goes through the firewall. Follow the components connected to the steering column all the way to the wheel assemblies and hoses connected to the power steering pump and reservoir. Attempt to scrub wet and dirty components around the steering system, using shop rags if the leak source is not readily apparent. Now,start the engine, rotating the steering wheel all the way from left to right several times to increase system pressure in the pump and hoses. Turn off the engine and inspect the system from the engine compartment, using a flashlight preferably. In some cases, you might have to wait one or two days for the leak to reveal itself . Next, check around the power steering pump, for possible cracks. If you find fluid around the pump case, the case is damaged and should be replaced. Some pumps are equipped with internal seals that may be replaced when necessary. Also, look around the reservoir and make sure it is in good condition. A cracked reservoir must be replaced as well.

Now, look around all fittings and hoses. A loose fitting cannot contain the high pressure in the system. Tighten clamps using a Phillips or flathead screwdriver or ratchet and socket, depending on the type of fitting or clamp used in your system. Additionally, check along the hoses for cuts. If possible, run your fingers along the length of the hose to find hidden wet spots. A hose leaking somewhere along the middle will have to be replaced. If the gash is very close to the end of the hose, you might be able to cut off the damaged part and reconnect the hose to the component. You will also need to Check the metal lines connecting the steering gear assembly to other components. A ruptured metal line must be replaced.

Lastly; Inspect completely around the rubber boots located between the ends of the steering gear assembly and the arms linking the assembly to the wheels. If fluid is leaking at either end, then the seals at the ends of the steering gear assembly will need to be replaced. If necessary, raise the front end of the vehicle using a floor jack and support it on jack stands or ramps. Once the vehicle is safely supported, inspect the steering gear assembly more closely to see if it is in good or bad condition . Make sure you check all the ares above for possible leaks or loose connections before replacing the entire pump.

Coolant is draining out of coolant reservoir from bottom of reservoir side after driving the car for a few minutes. The engine was just overhauled. Did the mechanic(s) forget to attach a hose at the...


Or the coolant tank is broken! You may have to remove the tank to figure out which as the hose is hard to get to with the trank bolted down. The hose could be rotted or the cap may not be releasing buid up of pressue or the head gasket or engine casting of one kind or other may be leaking commpression presure into the cooling system. It maybe time to go back to the rebuilder and have them check their work. If they finished the job all the way it sould'nt leak and they should of run it long enough to find a proble like that and fixed it before you gotr the car back.

Hose for antifreeze reservoir 1997 saturn SL2?


There should only be 2 hoses going to the resivoir. A small hose to the top, fender side. And a larger hose bottom toward the engine. There is a coolant level switch on the bottom. If you roll the washer resivoir forward it will lift up out of the way, without un-hooking anything. Hopefully this helps.
