I was driving down the interstate at 80 in my 2002 Monte Carlo when the rpms drop and I lose acceleration. The gas pedal got really lose as well. It's not starting either.

Sounds like your throttle cable has came off or broken. Have someone sit in the drivers seat and press the accelerator repeatedly (with engine off) while you look in the engine compartment for movement. if nothing moves your cable is broken and you will need a new one. as for not starting, the cable could be binding the throttle body, but that's only if the engine cranks over. if the engine wont even turn over, you may have a bad alternator. Worst case scenario though is that you have broken your timing belt and basically scrapped the motor. I would highly recommend a tow to a mechanic. Hope this helps

Help missing lacks power only when worm

If you have had a fire that has damaged the electrical wiring then it is more than likely shorted out a lot of sensors . Maybe if you run a fault code reading it will give you some idea of what units are failing. I may suggest a wiring harness from the wreckers but it will be determined by the codes if that is feasible.

My 95 tahoe has an occasional ticking noise, loss of oil pressure at idle and loss of power

Prognosis is really bad, hate to tell you. Ticking comes from the valve lifters, losing lubrication due to lack of pressure and running dry. At redlights, when revs are at idle, oil pressure drops a lot, and engine really suffers. Have the vehicle taken immediately to a shop for proper diagnose and to see if engine can still be saved. The loss of power comes from the valves not actuating properly. Hydraulic lifters need oil at a decent pressure to "charge" , and if not charged, they will stay compressed, ruining valve lifting operation.

Hi there we have a 2001 Z22 cavalier and the fuel pump kicks on but when you go to start it all you here is a loud whining sound and it won`t start and when it was running at times it would lose its power...

when you say it wont start does the engine crank (spin over and over) but not start? if this is the case then the most common thing that come to mind with the fact that you said it would loose power and die then i would have the crank sensor tested, but this problem only happens every so often so the crank sensor may test good , i would try and replace it and the next common thing is the control module. ive had a few of these with the same problem and they needed the crank sensor and the ignition module replaced, i cant say yours is the same but you have to start somwhere, the tech ,has he scanned the computer to see if there are any codes? and last let me know if this car is spinning trying to start or does it do nothing when you try to start it but the whinning noise, this is important to know, good day.
