Well the passenger side axle just slides right out when pulled on. But the drivers side(the shorter axle of the two) has a clip inside the diff that you have to take out in order to get the axle out. Pulling the diff out is very easy, disconnect the front driveshaft and there is a bolt on the left side of the diff you have to take out and then the front cover bolts. hope that helps

Do one side at a time, Jack the front wheel off the ground and remove. Remove the Brake Caliper and Rotor. Remove the large center nut in the Hub. Now remove the two bolts holding the lower part of the strut to the A-Arm and separate. You should be able to pull the hub down far enough to get the end of the axle out with some wiggling and possibly swearing, it not you can remove the lower A-Arm and just pull it off. PLACE A DRIP PAN UNDER THE SPOT WHERE THE AXLE GOES INTO THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE PULLING THE AXLE! Replace the axle to trany input seal and reverse order my instructions. Repeat for other side. This is a good time to replace Brake Pads and Rotors as well.
The independent front suspension (IFS) system is composed of a two-piece front driving axle, two front coil springs (5310) and two radius arms.
The front driving axle consists of two independent axle arms. One end of each axle arm is anchored to the frame (5005). The other end of each axle arm is supported by the front coil springs and radius arm.
Start out with buying yourself a $25 book from the Parts House. The I would go to the front HUBS, secure & safety vehicle before you do anything, Clean, Inspect, Lune & Repair front Hubs as required, get the brakes while you're there. Check your drive line, axles, u-joints etc. Clean , repair , replace as needed. Check for Tranfer case Operation. Is there power going to the front Axle when 4WD is engaged? do you feel a change when you engage the Transfer Case? Have you checked the Power on the circuits? Have you Manual or Auto-locking Front Hubs? Answer all those Questions & read before you do anything.
