Question about 2000 Ford Ranger SuperCab

1 Answer

I have an unidentifiable electrical component on a 2000 Ford Ranger 2.5L four cylinder. It is a black U or C shaped (imagine block lettering '|_|') that the wire fell out from. It has only one wire and is grounded on the coil pack (front coil pack there are 2). What is this, I took it into a parts store and they couldn't identify it! Please help as when it disconnected my truck has idled and ran significantly worse!

Since your post is going on two months old, maybe you now know what it is; if you do, you might want to post your solution back here, if not:
    - When you say 'grounded' what do you mean?

    - Does your black box have exposed metal?

Where is the DRL module on a 1999 Ford Ranger

Hi Russell,
The DRL ( daytime running lights) module will be one of two styles . (1) an oval shaped electrical connector with 5 or 6 wires ( not sure- I have a 2000 sport with the other style ) or ( 2) a square shaped connector with 6 wires. The module itself is about 3"x 4" for the oldstyle ( oval) and about 3" x 3" for the new style.

Where does a evap sensor go in a 1996 ranger pickup

I'm not an expert and I have a similar problem on the 1996 Mazda extended PU w/2300 four cylinder. Same vehicle, made in ranger plant in NJ.

On the four, the purge solenoid and the purge flow sensor are located just aft (towards driver) of the battery on a vac line between the canister (next to the battery) and the intake (Just forward of the brake master cylinder.

QUESTION: Is there a pressure sensor in the fuel tank of this vehicle??????

We have a 2000 ford ranger 4wd xlt. obd2 said "coil pack ignition B". where is it. we replaced the coil pack and continue to have the same problem which is..... at high rpm's the trucks dogs...

I imagine you have access to a scanner to know the Code message. Clear the Code and let the Diagnostic system continue to provide new information. You can get free scans at Autozone, Advance, and Oreily.

I believe you may have changed the wrong Coil if you do not know where Coil "B" is. Your system would have a coil on each sparkplug if it identified any Coil with a letter. The way it works is each cylinder 1-8 has an letter assigned to each plug. Plug 1 is Coil "A", Plug 2 is Coil "B" and so forth.

Your scan identified the number 2 cylinder as the problem. This coil would be directly on the plug. These coils usually have an electric value of 10,000Ohms from the top wire connector to the base of the coil.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

Where is the engine oil pressure sending unit located on the '97 Ranger 4.0L 4x4 auto? Thank You

its close to the oil filter, you will see the electrical plug going into it, and it will look like it needs a special tool to remove it by the shape of the head, but i always just used channel locks.

Wont fire, all other electric systems operate, but no spark were could it be ? on a 1990 ford ranger , 4 cylinder standard

First check that the ignition system is getting power. Don't use a test light. Use a digital multimeter. It is a must for electrical troubleshooting, because it is safe for electronic, and you can actually see voltages. Once you confirmed power is getting to the ignition system. Then you can check for individual components such as ignition module, coil etc.

Need location of the erg sensor 2000 ford ranger

The egr valve has two sensors. One is an EGR position sensor which is physically attached to the EGR valve. The other sensor is the DPFE (Delta Pressure Feedback EGR) sensor, commonly called the EGR pressure sensor. It's location varies depending on the engine you have. You can fine this sensor by following the vacuum hose on the EGR valve. It will be with in inches of the EGR valve. The sensor will be black (plastic) or silver (metal), have two or three vacuum ports and an electrical connection on it.

The vacuum pressure sensor is a high failure item on fords. Any Ford parts department will have one in stock, as well as some aftermarket parts stores.

The new sensor may not look exactly the same as the old part, but will have all the hook ups as the old one. You may also need to replace the vacuum hose to the sensor as well
