In order to unlock the steering without key you will need to remove the horn pad then the steering wheel shaft nut and the using a puller remove the wheel, after the wheel is removed you will need a steering wheel lock ring depressor tool to remove the lock ring, once the lock ring is removed the steering will be unlocked and you can move the car. If there was an easier way I'd gladly share that with you.

There might be a metal steering wheel lock release button under the dash in the steering column. but im not for sure on that. if you cant release it just get a flatbed tow truck. they will still be able to tow it.

does that solution appy tp a 1995 Infiniti Q45 as well. I lost the keys and I don't think I can afford to hve it towed by a flatbed & get a replacement key made.

SOURCE: cannot unlock the steering wheel on oldsmobile intrigue 2001

is it the right key for that car? cause if not then that is the problem... if it is the right key, then you might have to replace the key cylinder cause you may have something broken in it...

How do I unlock the steering wheel on 1998 Durango without the key

Disconnect the battery, take steering wheel air bag off and steering wheel. Drill the pin that holds the lock cylinder in place. It will allow you to turn it with a screw driver and disengage the locking pin. Re assemble. When you get a new one with a key, then just slide the new one in without having to take it apart.
If you want to do it quicker and destructive, then get a hacksaw and cut the lock pin by sliding the blade between the steering wheel and the steering shaft housing.

After I locked my car, I found my front wheels are not straight. I truned the steering without key and it got stuck. I'm not able to unlock and turn the steering. Please assist me to unlock my...

Turn the wheel slightly towards the direction you last turned it in and hold it there. This will remove the friction against the key lock, allowing you to turn the key and unlock the steering coulomb.

The steering coulomb lock is a safety feature that keeps criminals from driving off with your car in the event that they hotwire it. It locks the wheel slightly to the left or right, so they will only go in circles.

Cannot get the key to turn engine on without really trying to turn the steering wheel - now happening daily.

do you mean to unlock it beause its got hard & when you move the steering wheel it unlocks!
if so its because the steering column where the lock mechanism fits is worn or has burrs on it from all the use its had over time!
