I'm replacing the starter on my 2002 ford focus. the new starter came equiped with an addition "pig tail" on one of the posts which is supposed to solve a "no start problem" with older model fords. What do I connect this wire to?

The pigtail should be mounted to the smaller stud on the starter solenoid.

The other end should have a but connector and there should be a peice of heat shrink tubing also supplied. You will cut off the connector on the small wire that went to the spade terminal on the old starter. then crimp that wire to the new pig tail and then place the heat shrink tubing over the connection.

This will solve the problem with the spade connector corroding at the starter which causes many no crank problems with ford vehicles. Especially the older Taurus.

How to replace pig tail for crank shaft sensor 2001 ford taurus

Rockauto.com shows a wiring connector for your crank sensor. You just splice the wires on the new connector. You can talk to your local auto store, see if they can order one for you?

How do you fix wiring for 1988 ford ranger4x4 wiring to the fuel pump

Are you wanting to wire voltage or ground circuits? Remember, you have to deal with the fuel gage sending unit circuit or the fuel gage won't work.
The basics, if single wire dedicated circuit, leave a pigtail wire, both ends, as long as the problem is between the pig-tails, run a new wire, splice into pig-tails. The new wire can lay anywhere till you do some testing to see if it's going to work.
I short-handed this post a little. I wasn't sure exactly what you have going on?

when it wont start, turn your headlights on, see if they work if they dont, find out why. When it wont start, take a wire from the positive battery terminal and touch it to the small post on the starter solenoid, it should crank. If it now cranks, theres a problem between the ign switch and the starter solenoid.
