I need to disable my passenger side airbag in my 2002 Subaru Forester because I carry 4 children to and from school and sporting events.

You don't have that smart stuff for weight. You can't turn it off. If you don't think they should be in front, because of age or height. Put them in back. I haven't seen a van yet that had this option.

Same thing happened to 2002 Suburban and it turned out to be the cables which are connected the window regulator (motor), assuming you have power windows. You will need to remove the panel on the passenger side door to determine the cause. It could be one of three things, the cables, the regulator, or a broken fuse or wire stopping the electrical current...this is pretty rare especially if this is the only window which is not operating.

Generally speaking, you don't. Only trucks give you the option of turning off the passenger side airbag in the event you are hauling a child car seat.
You could unplug the air bag, but then the entire system would be disabled.

You can check with the dealer to verify, but as far as I know the only time you can turn off a passenger airbag is in a truck.

The cheapest, fastest and easier way to replace the mirror would be getting one from a local junk yard. Try to see how it is removed so you can DIY later. Your other option is the dealer which will be very pricey.

Yes you can however I would check with my insurance company first and second check with the dealer as most of them will do this free.

You should have the drive axles checked. Also Wheel bearings. Are there any vibrations or pulling?

If it says "airbag" on the stering wheel AND on the dash in front of the passenger,then it has a passengers side airbag.
Children are much safer in the back seat in the event of a collision.

Relax it will all be aight. Step number 2: Go out and have a coke and a smoke break (as my tech school instructor said to me when I asked this question in tech school haha ! ! ). The Airbag System has a reserve power sytem that will allow the airbags to deploy up to a certain time if for some reason the battery becomes disabled in the event of an accident. U only have to unplug the airbag module from the Clockspring. If it will make you feel more comfortable, leave your battery disconnected for a half hour and then start the disassembly process of your steering wheel. After a half hour you just unplug the airbag connectors from the clockspring. Hope I was able to calm your nerves so you can remove your steering wheel without having the fear of blowing up your airbag.

the linkage has popped off the back you need to get to it to push it back on ots possibly worn and needs replacing
