I agree. Its a common problem. My driver, back two pass. cables stuck. They range $150.00 each and you could do them. You can find them on line for around $30.00 each plus shipping.

The complete mechanism is provided as spare part. The cost to buy must be about $150 new. Depending on your location it may be found half price used in good condition. It is easier to replace it as complete than repairing its worn parts. Remove first inside door panel to have access and have some person to help you reinstalling and alighning door glass.
Alternative at work shops they ask about $90 to replace.
Good luck!

My automatic window does not work and the window is down. the motor seams to be getting power with no response. how do i manually put the window up until i replace the motor?

If you hear the motor turn or try to turn the regulator cable is most likely snapped and wound up in one of the pulleys. You will have to remove the door panel and cut the cable with some tin snips or a similar tool. You could then pull the window up and wedge a piece of wood in the door panel to hold the window up. The regulator / motor assembly is only about $150 from the dealer. Check out this link for some pictures and step by step instructions on removing your door panel.

My power window is stuck half way up-can i pull it up and try and fix it later? the passanger side already stopped working but it's closed all the way. My drivers side is stuck and I need to get it closed....

It depends on why it is stuck,. There is a cable in the door that raises and lowers the window. IF the cable is misfed on the roller or it is jammed on a pulley then you cannot move the window at all by pulling on it. If the cable is broken or has slack then you could raise it but it will fall back down.

I have a 2001 Pontiac grand prix. My rear drivers side window wont roll up or down, When i took door panel off, i noticed a blue and red wire that has a gray plug, That seems to me should go somewhere,...

it should go to the window motor or the power locks or the power window button.
check window motor with a test light for 12 volts at the plug.
check regulator/pulley system for a broke cable.

Passenger window won't cycle up on 2001 chevy silverado 1500

If you can hear some noise on the door when switch is pressed that means you have power on the motor . The window regulator works with steel cable on plastic pulleys so what you have to check is if the cable is on the right place or if there's any broken pulley . The best choice is replace the window regulator and that will cost you about $50.00 @ local auto parts store . If you can't hear any sound could be a blow fuse , bad switch or a bad motor on the window regulator that will came on the new window regulator . Hope this help

How do you connect the power windows?

They are supposed to be connected to the motor. Does the motor run when that doors individual switch is pressed? What do the ends of wire look like, connected to something or does it have clips at ends? If motor still runs then these wires are for manipulating the rack& pulley system for operation of the window glass.........sodeep

Window jam on my accent

It maybe the track guide clip has broken or the track bolt fell out, or the guide is out of adjustment. The door panel will probally have two be removed and checked for operation and any missing or broken or bent parts.

2001 GMC power window repair- front drivers side

I am not 100% familar about the innerworkings of your particular truck but in majority of GM aplications there is a Bar that goes along the Bottom of the Window that has plastic clips in at least 2 locations these clip attach to a Cable and pulley system that is attached to the power window motor raise the window when You press the button

*many of the pieces can be ordered individual from the dealer
before I order anything If I were you I check and see if the cable had come off one of the pulleys causing it to get stock and fray the cable... You might get away with just putting a block of wood in the bottom of the door to support the window when you manually pull it to the raised position and try and free the cable.

Note that the entire assembly can be taken apart and the window can be left in the door. This is a several hours long job for a mechanically inclined person with no experience I have changed 1 on a pontiac Aztek 2002 model and a 2002 Trailblazer which uses the same part as the envoy ...

note carefull of cutting the knuckles I did that a few times when replacing the assembly.

good luck
