Hi all.
I drive a 1.6 Jetta 4 and have noticed this disturbing noise. ( Cluck Cluck) when i drive on a little bumpy road.
Can someone please tell me what could be the problem?
Regards
Andrea

That sound like a CV joint that has worn out. You should also hear it in a very tight slow speed turn. Have a CV joint specialist look at it for you before too long.

Oil, air filter and fuel filter are nothing to do with your issue. If it 'revs through the roof' and doesn't move, your issue is a burned out clutch or a problem with the automatic gearbox.
You can trace vacuum leaks two ways.
The cheap way. buy a 3 foot length of 1/4" plastic hose and stick one end in your ear. Wave the other end around and follow the noise.
Take it to a garage and they do a smoke test. They pressurize the system with a smoke generator and see where it appears from. The test takes a couple of house on a slow leak and 5 minutes on a big one.
if you are driving on hard surface ( sealed roads) in 4wd then don't as if damages the drive train
what is happening is that there is a torque wind up from the front and rear wheels running at different distances and the cluck you hear is when at some point that torque is released and allows the selection to disengage or engage
4wd is for use in slipper conditions unless you have an AWD which will become 4WD when required by you after selection of the control
Hi,I`ll try to help, look at the low side reading when ac is running(before it cycles off...cluck sound),is it down to 10? 0? below ?If so have the expansion valve replaced and your ready to go.If not,if you have a high side reading,is it above 275 or 300?If so the cooling fan or fans are not coming on,find out why, cooling fan relay?fuses? If the fan or fans are running, then you have a restriction in the high side, either the dryer,or the condenser are stopped up.I I can be of more help, let me [email protected]
Hi Dohn. The save levelto fill you oil is 3/4 from empty on your dip stick. This gives the engine space to breath. What has most likely happened here is, the engine has had too much oil and is trying to find a way out which will end up on your drive or through yor exhaust.
hi there,
Im not to sure but i would be checking the air filter box in this case, just maybe something might be getting sucked up into the intake when you accelerate its a simple chek good luck.
