Squeeking noise when turning wheel of my 2002 mazda 626

  • Check the steering fluid, if you need to add fluid do so and also check the hose of the steering if there is a leak. If the noise is still there after you add a steering fluid then visit a local mechanic to check the pump.

My car won't turn on, the key doesn't turn at all, it seems to be locked

Sometimes if you remove the key from the ignition while you still have tension on the steering wheel it will lock up the ignition. Try pulling on the steering wheel left and right while trying to turn the ignition key. Good luck.

Starts if you turn steering wheel

I will take a guess at this. You can't turn the key until you turn the steering wheel a little to the left or the right? This is usually caused by friction on the steering locking mechanism which keeps the key from turning in order to start the car. If this is not the case then you may have a bad ignition switch or cable head connecting to the switch that is not making contact until you move the steering wheel around and it makes contact allowing you to start the vehicle. Good Luck, RAC

Fussy old bugger, when's the last time you had a front end alignment? Has it always been off center? Have you had any front end work done (tie rods replaced etc?) If the steering wheel has never been off, it shouldn't have to be removed now (unless it was installed improperly at the factory-doubtful) Yes you MUST disable the air bag to remove steering wheel. Any chance the car hit a curb, pot hole, etc? !st thing should be an alignment at a good garage, they should be able to find any damage to front end components caused by a pothole/curb. correct, and align. That should correct the position of the steering wheel and make you a smiling fussy old bugger. countrycurt0 PS-I'm a fussy old bugger too.
