Question about 2005 Renault 181

2 Answers

I have recently acquired a Renault Scenic, 2005, 1.5 dci, 100 BHP, Dynamique, 31000 miles. Yesterday the word "SERVICE" appeared (contantly) with the engine symbol and the message "CHECK EMISSIONS". Can you please tell me the cause and solution to this problem.

WHEN TO CHANGE TIMING BELT ON RENAULT SCENIC GRAND DCI MODEL & DO THE PETROL MODELS HAVE TIMING BELTS OR A TIMING CHAIN?

The Renault schedule for timing belts on the Scenic is 72,000 miles or 5 years. This applies to both the petrol and DCI models as both have timing belts not chains.

However, please be aware that it is common knowledge in the trade not to let the interval go past 40,000 miles because these engines are renowned for snapping belts at any time after 40k resulting in serious engine damage.

Haynes (who are renowned for their service manuals on many models) recommend a maximum interval of 36,000 miles between belts on this model which is exactly half that of what Renault say!

This information from Haynes is backed up by experience and reports from the trade on the common and unfortunate experiences of customers experiencing belt breakage at 45 k and below.

Hope this helps. Please do leave a vote for the solution. Thanks.

I had a problem with my battery and I dont have the correct radio code, how can I get it - my car is a Renault Scenic 1.6 Dynamique, 2005

The radio will have to be removed from the car dashboard

.Then please quote the MAKE + MODEL of your radio plus ALL the LETTERS and NUMBERS on any LABELS , BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING.

There should be a 14 character Serial Number beginning with RG or RN or PH or similar (often found stamped in the metal casing ) and maybe a Security Number in the format of TOA123 or TA123 or just A123 at the end of a barcode so please quote EVERYTHING you can find

Hi, I have a Renault Scenic dci 2000 Xreg, yesterday the front seat belt pretentioners went off whilst travelling on a normal road. Vehicle has not been in contact with another vehicle, also checked with...

This is worrying, the lights are on because the collision detectors have caused the pre tensioners to go off, you will need new belt assemblies and control box, find a good dealer and get the code read first as this is wrong, what area are you in?

Check your plugs again, make sure they aren't gunked up already or covered in oil or anything. Double check the spark gaps on them as well.
