Take your car to the parts store and tell them you need to try some smaller belts and if you look under your hood it will show you how to route the belt with out going around the ac compressor, when i bought my belt this had been arleady done on my car so i know there is a belt out there that works, and if you unplug the ac compressor that will NOT solve the problem, the bearings are going bad in the ac compressor and by leaving the belt on there you will open up to even more problems

Go to your local parts store and get a
6 rib serpentine belt with 40 degree grooves that is 75 inches long, don't pay a shop to do it as it's super easy to change and can be done in the parking lot in less than 5 minutes with the use of an 18mm wrench

If the comprtessor itself is bad, you can unplug the activation wire located up fron of the unit, this will allow the clutch bearing to turn separate of the compressor. If the clutch bearing is the cause you will have a problem, these belt systems are so crazy that it would be almost impossible to select a belt to do what you want.

Buick Century 2001, need serpentine belt diagram

You should have a diagram of your serpentine belt routing located under the hood somewhere. The OEM usually places them near the top of the radiator.

By-Pass A/C Pump with new Serp. Fan Belt

the belt tensioner has a pulley that is in-line with the rest of the pulleys, but it is a small one. it has a little bit of an arm that mounts either to the engine or a bracket to the engine. it puts a down force on the belt keeping it tight. when you go to remove the old belt, you will have to use either a wrench or ratchet to pull up on the tensioner (do not let the tensioner snap back into place). install in reverse order. go to the local parts store and take the old belt(if it still exists) and tell them what the problem is and how you plan to fix it with a shorter belt taking the a/c compressor out of play. and go from there.
