Question about 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

1 Answer

Losing A/f I have a 98 s-10 4wd with a 4.3, auto trans (117,000 miles), It is losing a/f but is not leaking on the ground (uses red a/f). Just changed the oil a couple weeks ago, at the filter there was sludge (never before) , the oil level on the dipstick is a little overfull and has a yellowish tint but no foam. Other than this the tk runs fine. Thanks for any help, Greg

Your leaking antifreeze into your crankcase the 4.3 had intake gasket problems and felpro has a special gasket to fix the problem. if it goes on too long it will damage the intake and you will also have to replace it also.
hope you caught it in time.

Fix for shudder and loss of power in transmission of 1999 lincoln towncar at appx 45 mph, transmission will shudder and sometimes start losing power. i can then pull over and take out of drive and then to...

I would have to agree that the shift lock acculater is going bad, Because if the transmission is shifting OK when it is in gear then the transmission is OK, But if you want to keep it that way you can change the trans fluid and filter and gasket, After doing that add a bottle of Prolong transmission treatment use the PROLONG TRANSMISSION ONLY itg can be bought at PEP BOYS or some other auto parts store's do not use any other type of treatment because the PROLONG is the best it treats the parts and the metal not the fluid, I put it in a ford LTD trans with over 200,000 miles on it and the trans is still working fine and now it has 278,899 miles on it.but also check the fuses and the locking system

I have no visible leaks yet the car is losing coolant?

It sounds to me like you may have a blown head gasket,the water may be going out the exhaust,perform a compression test on each cylinder.

How many gallons per hour does this car lose?

hey
at the begging u should clarify how many gallon u used.
112 miles at 28 miles per gallon --> 4 gallons burned (112/28)
So that means we leaked 11 - 4 = 7 gallons

Now figure out how long the car was driving.
112 miles at 64 miles per hour --> 1.75 hours

So, leak was at a rate of 7 gallons in 1.75 hours
7/1.75 = 4 gallons per hour leaked.
