Check the fuel filter , if it got to much smudge , change it
if this did not work , unscrew the upper top part of the carburator and check the leveling pad may be it is worn out preventing the fuel from entering the chamber , or you could just unscrew the inlet fuel hose and tap the retun one and blow some air in it , if ther air does not flow smoothly then you need to chande the locking needle controlled by the leveling pad

1982 gmc pickup I replaced the mechanical fuel pump and still am not getting fuel up to the carb and it will not start

You most likely have an air lock in the fuel line or fuel pump.
To start the engine and hopefully get the fuel to the carby, pour a little fuel down the carby and then start the engine. You may need to do this several times until you get the engine running.

Any vehicle needs a good working fuel pressure fuel filter, When you put a load it needs more fuel, 3_17_2012_7_41_54_pm.jpg

you need to have the battery tested, i think all that is wrong is the battery is bad.

They could be right. If possible, get an trouble code. That will tell you which sensor is the problem. it could be other sensors too.

Car wont start

The computer controls the injectors, obviously the injectors are not firing. Check that the computer is powered up; if it is, then the computer is bad

1982 mazda 929 MV motor, idles & runs perfect motor is spot on but! it won't stop surging when driven in forward gears 1,2 &3. Have replaced points/distributor/coil/fuel pump/filter but still it...

Sounds like the ECU is struggling to maintain a constant speed when the throttle is open on cretain spots. Does this vehicle have a TPS (throttle position sensor)? If it does then it probably needs to be put on a scope and properly adjusted for continuity. Or could be that some other factory settings have been tampered with on some smog components. Either case, its most likely your air/fuel ratio.
