Question about 2000 Mercury Cougar
What is and where is the inlet manifold runner control imrc code p1518 is given on my scanner
On a 2000 mercury cougar its a square box under the black shield with the engine stats on it, 6 inches up from the hood latch. remove the black cover and three screws hold the imrc to the engine block. there is a cover with 4 screws, a wire harness plug and black cable (a cable simmilar to a throttle cable) connected to it. it is verry pricy my dealership in tucson az quoted me 350 for a new one.

It is on the intake manifold upper plenum, it iws a vacuum motor, the rod comes off and sets the code.

Intake Manifold Runner Control Shutter Valve (Stuck Open)
IMRC control circuit shorted to ground or to system power (B+) . IMRC shutter valve actuator is stuck closed . IMRC vacuum hose is loose or disconnected. PCM has failed .From the Mazda Repair guides.
