Not necessary to replace the due to the water pump, but u should replace the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs every 60,000 miles or as needer if they are worn. as for your water pump, u should also replace the thermostst and gasket with the pump, and check the belt or belts for wear and replace them as needed

Toyota 4 runner 1994 6 cylinder i need to know what the firing order is and distributer cap.. is there a pic i can see please

153624 is the firing order , take our No. one spark plug, turn engine over till compression is felt, turn engine till mark on crank pulley lines up with mark on timing cover, this is No. one on compression stroke, the distributor rotor must now be pointing to No. one on the cap, note the way the rotor moves , clock wise or anti clock wise following the movement fit the plug wire to No. 1 on the cap and No one cylinder ,next No, 2 on the cap to No,5 cylinder and so on.

Won't start

Check the fuel injectors, with the key on one side of the two wire connector will have battery voltage, if none is present then check the ECM fuses in the underhood fuel box.

97 s10 4.3 vortec..flooding when engine is hot. Went from 24 mpg to 13. Changed fuel pressure regulator. egr valve.Plugs, wires, cap and rotor button. Fuel pressure stays between 55 and 61 at all speeds,...

The fact the fuel pressure does not hold after the pump stops is a big problem indicating a fuel leak into the upper manifold, which would cause the flooding. This leak could have several causes, but since the problem is still there after replacing the regulator, it sounds like the problem is with the injector in the spider assembly.
It sounds like you have a design 1 spider assembly, with only one fuel injector distributing fuel to the six poppets. If that is the case, I suggest you try replacing the entire assembly (which will include a new regulator) with the Delco design 2 version which has injectors on each poppet.

96 geo prizm 1.6l. Just had timing belt, water pump replaced. Allso, coil and spark plugs. Car now misses as soon as the water temp starts to come up when accelerating. I just put new plug wires on. Same...

I would definitely try the distributer cap and rotor button. It's about a 15 minute job and might solve your problem. As the car warms up the electrical components of course heat up too. As the heat goes up, resistance also increases in electrical connections, wires, etc. You could be getting enough current to pass between the rotor and the poles at low temps but, as they heat up, sufficient current for a good spark is not being passed along.

What all do i need to change when doing a tune up for a chevy 2005 equniox

Just basically spark plugs and an air filter. The plugs don't need replacement until 100,000 miles. The fuel filter is located inside the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank and is not serviceable. It doesn't require a PCV valve and there are no adjustments available for the throttle body, idle or timing.

Water is getting on your distributer cap..It is located directly under the water pump and getting wet..It comes as a kit (distributer cap, rotary button) and is around $120-$160.. Water pump has to come off to get to it and need to replace it as well when its off or you will just get the new one wet.

How old is the truck? On electronic ignitions these days, water seldom gets in dist. but there is a spray you can get to dry up water, just take dist. cap off and spray then wait a few minutes before replacing cap.

99 S-10 will not start in windy damp weather.

I would change all of it. Spark plug wires will leak under the high voltage w/o any outward signs. Unlikly fuel pump . Not effected by damp weather. If after all that and it still doesn't work, change the coil.

Not starting

The opti-spark distributor cap is below the water pump.
Often a leaking water pump will cause a short in the distributor
Due to the amount of time and labor cost to remove the water pump, and that fact that the water pump has to be removed to replace the distributor cap, it is a good idea to replace the distributor cap at the same time the water pump is replaced. The water pump is driven by a pinion shaft with an " O " ring. Be sure to replace the " O " ring too else you may shortly develop an oil leak at that point.
