Belts how do you put the main belt back on

Read other posts about 15mm or 5/8 wrench to pull tentioner towards u to pull spring loaded tentioner pulley so u can slip on the belt. Just waiting for the rain to stop so I can put mine back on

There is a diagram under the hood, most likely next to the emission sticker which is either on the underside of the hood or near the radiator

Serpentine belt route


ok I do not know what the cofigure is on your jeep but let me explain how it works and then you may be able to put it on. First look at the pulleys and see witch ones are smooth and witch ones have lines. smooth pulleys match to the smooth side of the belt ridgid side matches with ridgid side of belt. next I will tell you a rule to most serentine belts. Your crankshaft pully is the main drive so the belt will rap around almost 3/4ths the way around the pulley. All driven pulleys witch are the ones the run the water pump, altenator, compresor, and power steering rap around 3/5ths around the pulleys then you have the tentioner witch will apply pressure down on the belt so make shure the belt is under the pressure side. You can put a 3/8th ratchet in the tentioner to move it. if you still have pulleys that I have not covered they are their to complete the right amount of rap on the driven pulleys. The main thing to look at is if its smooth then put the smooth side of the belt on that pulley. If this did not help just coment back and I can get the book out tommorrow when I go to the shop and email you a copy of the diagram

Make Sure Your Adjusting is loose and your Belt correcly sitting on the Sleave From the Bottom of the Cranck Pully I See So Many People Re-ajust belt then When Star Engine Belt Broke ...So That Why I insist Sorry For That ... Then check all pully for belt sitting
Slowly Adjust Belt Till it Safe ..Then Turn Engine by Putting A extension Rachet then turn Main Crank Shaft Slowly Complite turn If the belt stay on correcly ..Then Start engine then stop Check again For Belt Position if it Ok ..Your car it fix ... Good Luck

How do you remove the timing belt cover on a 1995 VW Golf.


What is needed Tools: 6mm and 8mm allen wrench socket, 5mm allen wrench. 8mm, 13mm, 19mm socket and ratchet. 10mm combination wrench. Long ratchet extensions (at least one 6in, more are helpful). 5inch Wheel puller (for main shaft pulley). (Some models may need a special spanner tool to adjust the timing belt tensioner) Parts: 2 gal of anti-freeze mixed with distilled water. All three V-belts. (Alt, A/C, P/S) $32.95 New water pump top. $91.91 New gasket for WP. $9.13 New timing belt. $26.13.


Procedure:

Remove battery cable (either power (+) or ground (-)) remove alternator remove A/C remove power steering pump .Remove water pump pulleys remove main shaft pulleys remove timing belt covers remove A/C mounting hardware remove timing belt (don't turn any of the wheels its connected to) replace timing belt adjust belt tension remove water pump face put on new gasket and new part.

Leave pulleys off. replace bottom timing belt cover, replace crank shaft pulley, replace steering pump, replace A/C, put small belt on A/C (hang loose) put large belt around A/C, Main and water pump pulley. put middle size belt on Main water pump and power steering pump reattach bolts for the steering pump pulleys put alternator back on adjust all belts. connect battery

Problem areas:
Main pulley: There are 4 6mm hex head bolts. These must be removed. The main 19mm hex head can be used to turn the engine it the timing belt slips and you have to readjust the timing.

Putting on new belts: This can be a real pain if you get VW belts. The adjustments won't give enough to put the belts over the edge so the easy way is to remove the pulley on the water pump. Then its real easy.

Timing: If you turn the wheels that the timing belt goes on you will have to reset the timing. Mark the timing points with something like whiteout so its easy to see. The timing mark on the toothed gears are small dots. The timing mark for the crankshaft is a small cut on the outer pulley. When its aligned with the intermediate wheel timing mark (there is an arrow on the cover as a hint) should intersect as viewed from the right wheel well. The camshaft timing mark should line up with the top of the engine near the front.

Power steering pump: It is held on with lots of bolts. One is in a channel that is hard to see but can be found with a 6" extension. If you look at the pump you will see three bolts that go into the housing. This should give you an idea where the forth is.

How do i take of belt on a 1998 nissan 200sx?


There should be a tensioned idler pulley which has an internal spring to take up the slack. It will have a nut or a drive socket so you can attach a spanner and rotate it to relieve the tension. You will need an extension as the tension is quite high. Putting the belt back is easier with an extra person to hold the idler pulley back while you manipulate the belt.

To put a serpentine belt back on your car, you should jack the right side up, and remove the tire first. Remove the plastic cover behind that to gain access to the side of the motor with the pulleys on it. On the side of the motor you will see down low the belt tensioner pulley witch swivels with the use of a wrench, i think it is a 14 or 15 mm wrench which is needed. Put the belt around all the other pulleys in the format they go by the picture under the hood, saving the last part of the belt to go the tensioner.Swivel the tensioner and but the belt over it, and put everything back on in reverse order.

Replacing main belt on chevy truck 4.8 engine


remove the belt to ac compressor.take your serpentine belt go around crank pulley goes around power steering pump goes around alternator and the tensioner on the far left. the water pump on the out side and the top idler pulley out side. the belt drives them from the out side. then you put your ac compressor belt back on.

How do you change a serpentine belt on a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero?


Brute force - you have to pry up the tensioner pulley. The way we did it was put the belt over the alternator and A/C compressor, and get it back in place around the main bearing pulley. Then we took a bar and forced up the tensioner and slid the belt over the main bearing pulley. Voila . . .
