Have you checked the timing? and is it over jetted you may need to reduce the size of the main jets it can be flooding out, you have to make sure the secondary ignition system (plugs wires cap and rotor ) and all good I always recomment Factory AC Delco stuff they have Igh Performance Stuff Too.

Hi I just want to how much easier is it to tune an edelbrock carb then a quadrajet carb

Edelbrock cars are square bore and Quadrajets are spreadbore make sure you have either an adaptor plate if running stock manifold or you'll have vacuum leaks, as far as tuning Edelbrocks are EZ. 2 air/fuels screws that only effect idle, turn in till runs rough then back out 1/4 to 1/2 turn on both, that will set it for economy, for performance engines, turn out or counter clockwise till runs rough then turn back in clockwise 1/2 to full turn, set idle ***** and your good to go, the two vacuum ports in front are distributor advance, the right side closest to manifold is full time vacuum hook there for performance or left side for economy.. if you buy a new edelbrock carb it will run great right out of the box, also has a set/up DVD, for novice Mechanics, ez to change metering rods too, hope this helps, and in my opinion Quadrapuke carbs are junk.

I,have a 85 f250 7.5l. Put a edelbrock carb on it. I can get it to start and idle but when I give it gas it dies. What can I do to make it drivable again?

1st thing to check is the fuel pressure , most carbs have to have a constant 12 psi supply in order to work , they'll idle on lower but will starve out when more throttle is added (pumps and filters)

second thing what model carb did u use ? reason I ask is some models require two fuel inlet connections , the former carb might have only had one that would lead u to believe new one only needs one as well , this may not be true

last but not least : out of the box carbs are set to basic settings as far as jetting goes , some fine tuning is expected to do by installer for perfect calibration of A/F ratio in all throttle settings

I am changing a1994 silverado 350 5.7 throttlebody with a 650 edelbrock 4-barrell carb.already atop another intake that fits, weill i have problems because of the left over throttle body wires

Its going to be a major job. The in-tank pump produces 10-15 psi which is twice the amount a carb can handle. The float in the carb will not cut that much pressure off.
And the engine computer must have the TPS sensor to function.

my suggestion would be a 600 cfm edelbrock these are low maintence good driveability carburetors and good price on them. I assume you are running a 350 v8?

How do i tune a edelbrock 650 carb on a 350

have a shop check the tension on the choke settings in the morning before car is started, and reset fast idle on choke settings, then when car is run and heated up it will trip off the choke settings and fast idle and return back to normal settings

Im going to buy a '77 chevy silverado. i dnt no much bout cars let alone one older than me. i no it has a 350 edelbrock engine n carb. n a new auto-trans. less than 500 miles on each. well the guy said it...

The cable he is talking about is a Throttle Valve or Kick down cable. What it does is it increases pressure to the clutches on hard acceleration and tells the trans when to downshift.

It could be that your idle is set too low, try giving it a little gas and easing it into gear. If it still kills then you will need to start looking at possible engine / Trans problems.

I assume it's a TH350 trans?

Engine bogs down

I would adjust the carb, then I would check the float and the needle and seat on your carb. make sure your air filter is clean. check the timing.
