2004 x3 sunroof won't close in back

Any ideas why it won't shut, the front one shuts and then reopens because the back one won't close.

I have 2004 x3 and the other day the sunroof got stuck in tilt. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole roof. Luckily it was under warranty.

I have a 2004 x3. I just purchased the vehicle. The sunroof worked great for 2 days. Then I pushed the tilt button and it is stuck open. We have only

had it for 2 days. The glass was sliding open and closed with ease. I was pushing buttons because it was new to me. That is when it went to the tilt position and it acted like it wanted to close the front glass but not the back.

    Any suggestions?

2005 X3 panorama glass sunroof stuck in the tilt position while the front part glass assembly works well. The rear glass remains stuck open in the tilt position.

I had the same problem in Jan 2009 with my 2004 2.5i x3. Took it back to BMW and they used a repair kit apparantly mandated by BMW north america to "fix" the problem, however, the problem was not fixed. They replaced the entire casing around the structure around the sunroof. Mine was under warranty and the repairs cost me nothing, but the BMW service guy suggested BMW North America might be flexible with fixing this problem for x3's that are out of warranty since the problem stems from some sort of design fault.

My rear sunroof panel is stuck open also. My car is out of warranty and the dealer said it would cost around 4800.00. I told him to just get it closed (i might as well buy a new car with money, but i'm not!!!) and he said the diagnostic testing confirmed a fatal error and that the pane would not close no matter what they do. They are petitioning BMWNA to fix it for free because I service my car still at BMW. I doubt they will do it. But I know for sure, one way or the other that rear glas is going to close!! I suggested a possible fault and the service tech said no way. Yay, I love my BMW.

I have a 2004 2.5 x3. My sun roof also in the back wont close. It is out of warranty (of course) and the dealer said I would have to replace the entire carraige for $5k. Want sense does that make? I asked them to just get it closed and of course they could not (or maybe did not want to). I am very dissapointed as the car is a little over four years and I barely used the sunroof. The guy at the dealer said you could go online and find the sunroof cheaper and just have them install it. But I am sure that will cost too.

My sunroof won't close

Some sunroofs have a open switch like the drivers window. You push it and the window will open automaticly. The button on your sunroof could be jammed so even though you can close it as soon as you release it, it will auto open on it's own.

My 1995 nissan maxima has a sun roof that will not close any more than half way. how do i get it shut? im not concerned with reopening it, just getting it closed. thank you in advance.

I have a maxima 1996 and when I lock doors with fob control, and sun roof is open, it will close along with doors. Try this way. Also check fuses under dash and sunroof relay.

99 malibu sunroof stuck open.

The motor is in the front area of the roof unit.If you can drop the switch and trim around the front of sunroof unit and headliner ,you can can access the sunroof drive motor. The drive shaft of the motor can be turned mannually with an allen wrench which will assist in closing and identifying the problem area.If its hung very badly ...remove the sunroof motor then push the roof closed.

Some customers may comment that the sunroof will no longer respond to the control switch while in a vented, partially opened, or fully opened position.
Cause A software issue with the sunroof control module may cause the sunroof control module to incorrectly indicate a "closed" position, which may result in no power to the sunroof motor.
Correction Verify the customer concern. If a condition is present, replace the sunroof control module with a new sunroof control module, P/N 15847643. Refer to the Service Procedure in this bulletin.
Service Procedure
  1. Verify the customer concern by opening and closing the sunroof. • If the sunroof will not open , check the power windows. - If the power windows are also inoperative, check the fuse. If the fuse has opened, refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 05-08-64-004 to install 30A circuit breaker. - If the power windows are fully functional, refer to "Power Sunroof Inoperative" diagnostics (SI Document ID# 1392967) in the Body section of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox or Saturn VUE Service Manual. • If the sunroof will open (or is already open), but will not close , proceed to Step 2.
  2. Replace the sunroof control module. Refer to "Sunroof Control Module Replacement" procedure in the Body section of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Service Manual (SI Document ID# 1196049) or Saturn VUE Service Manual (SI Document ID# 1710479).
  3. Open and close the sunroof in order to confirm that the customer concern has been resolved.
