Question about BMW 318

1 Answer

In the last few days my bmw saloon 320i on an M reg has started kinda jumping on the back end... I hit a manhole and the back end moves off it plus going round corners has become a challenge, it seams that the back end it literaly moving by itself. it's started since i carried alot of weight in the car, not excess weight but it was heavy. it's scaring the **** out of my, ive jacked it up and had a look and there dosent seam to be anything wrong and the tyres etc are good aswell. Also ive got a massive problem with my heaters, there's a gurgling noise when i switch the car off, it seams to be coming from the heater matrix i believe. the heaters work on 1 and 2 but there's nearly no power but 3 and 4 seam to have the power of 1 and 2 in a normal bmw. the vents coming to the windscreen dont work at all, niver do the floor vents but the face vents work ok. when you turn on the air con there's no freezing cold air and when you switch it on it sounds light a fighter jet has just fired up, it's so loud. Id be very gratefull for any help you can give me.

As for the suspension, if you've carried a lot of weight back there, you've probably damaged or ruined the struts. With them damaged, the springs are doing everything. Struts/shocks are there to dampen and control the rebound and compression of the springs, and if they're blown, the back end can bounce around. When you hit a bump, with no struts to control the oscillation, the springs will trampoline the car's back end around. Get the struts inspected and replaced if need be.

Sudden loud noise

Not a vacuum hose. If it is coming from the top of the motor, I would first check the oil. If there is a hole punched into the oil pan , you may be very low on oil. If oil's fine, I would suggest looking at the transmission housing. If the manhole came up and hit the housing, it may have cracked that, or cracked the fly wheel. One more thing I'm thinking is that if the manhole hit your starter, and pushed it up, It may have cracked the fly wheel. This can make it sound like it's at the top of the motor. Very loud tap tap tap tap. If you excellerate, the noise will go faster too. I just can't see a manhole doing any damage to anything in the top of motor. Make sure you check the oil ASAP. Hard to tell without hearing it. A video would even help. Let me know what you come up with. Good luck

Oil can showing bmw 320i is there a problem

Usually this just means that you are a quart low on oil. Check your oil and if it needs it add it. This should make the light turn off.

check and see if you get water/coolant circulates when you have the cap off (only check from cold start) the original water pump came with a plastic impeller and tends to strip on the shaft also check your thermostat before replacing water pump.
