Well, if the coolant is leakimg from the HVAC drain, then you need a heater core, no matter what. You really have to jack it up and look, but I can give you a couple of pointers......
1. The water pump is leaking. That happens a lot. The coolant is leaking near the front of the car, near the center, but ever so slightly towards the drivers side. You need a special tool to replace it and I think gm has an updated cover and gasket.
2. The water pump housing is leaking. The gaskets that seal it to the block are made of plastic and deteriorate often. The coolant will be leaking at the center of the car, maybe up by the water pump, or back between the engine and transmission.
3. The heater hoses. I have only seen this 2 time, but the metal pipes corrode along the fire wall.
4. You could need a radiator. I have seen the side tanks leak a few times.....
Just A couple of places to look, but you have to get under and look....
I'm assuming that you have the factory fog lights on a NHW20 (2004-2009) Prius. In the US 2004 Owner's Manual, it is listed in Section 2-4, "Operation of Instruments and Controls,""Lights, Wipers and Defogger,""Front Fog Lights,"
Possible leak areas waterpump, heater core, intake manifold gasket, radiator or hoses. Waterpumps have what they call "weep holes" which is an early warning system to prevent major damage when pump fails. The weep hole needs to be inspected from below and is usual behind waterpump pulley. If it's your heater core, you should smell anti freeze inside truck and in most cases windshield will fog up. Radiator could be pin hole to front side of radiator (which is buried behind AC condenser & grill) and if it was head gasket, intake manifold symptoms would be coolant in oil OR lots of white smoke from exhaust.
Try parking it on a clean dry surface and see if you can narrow down area where leak is coming from.
This must be the fuse and is found under the dash within the car. If the fuse blows out then you must check the wiring to the front washer motor and to the rear.
Disconnect and check the rear and the front washers.
If your smelling coolant in cab, and window fogging up, check fog if green heater core is going. Over heating could be a couple of things, plugged radiator, water pump, thermostat. To check for water pump Find the top hose, run car check for leaks on ground. While warm or hot wear glove oven mitt or something that you can feel through but will protect from heat, If you feel flow of coolant more the just a trickle its a good thing to replace thermostat. Also check for bubbles in the coolant tank, if there are bubbles your S.O.L. the head gasket is blown
Both your air con and defogger (I am assuming you mean front windshield defroster setting, and not the back window) engage the air conditioner pump/compressor.
The screeching can be either a bad belt or a bad compressor.
How long has it been since the belt was changed? If it is old, and slipping, it will cause the screech at speed.
If the belt has recently been changed, and is adjusted properly, I would start looking that the air compressor pump.
