1999 GMC 2500 suburban with 454 engine is hard to start when warm (not when cold) and sometimes must wait 15 minutes for it to cool enough to start. Had all new injectors intalled by then GMC dealer 18thousand miles ago for $1,500. Ex dealer agrees problem should not be back but says he is no longer a dealer and can not touch it. Suburban is otherwise in excellent shape. What to do?

1. Air filter clogged
2. Fault with the electrical systems and or fuel.
3. Fuel not reaching the injectors.

These are some of the problems that would cause this.

And did this happen right after they replaced the injectors, or recently?

When cold my '93 suburban dies but once warm runs fine it has a 454 with tbi

Have you checked to be sure the idle air control is working properly and also the engine temp control sw. The iac only comes on to maintain the idle when the engine is cold. The ect sw monitors the outside temp and tells the computer how much fuel to put to the engine. Hope this helps.

My 99 gmc 454 starts good in cool weather, but hard when it's warm or engine is warm.. when it does starts it's almost like its flooded.... any answers to what i need to do?

Have engine tap. startes after warm up, and gets louder takes bout 5 min to hear tap . at first engine sounds like champ. its a 454 96` 2500 gmc suberban

can be lifter going bad,rocker arm loose (once oil warms and thins out) can also be a minor exhaust gasket leak

My 1999 GMC Suburban starts then dies BUT the security light is on! I have a feeling it has something to do with trhe factory alarm/keyless entry??

turn the key on and wait for the security light to go off about 10 to 15 minutes then turn key off and back on an try starting it. this usualy clears the pass key II system

the suburban engine compartrment allows for avery large V8s to be installed within its interior and yes any 454 will fit

454 ci gm turns over hard backfires timing ok acts flooded

Check fuel pressure, and regulator. A leaking regulator gives a warm engine more fuel [ it does not like it] a cold motor does. same as a flooded motor. Good luck

1999 GMC Suburban 2500. 454 engine

sounds like fuel pump pressure. I had the same thing happen to me in a Lincoln mark VII and the electrical connection was shorting out in the fuel pump. I changed the fuel pump..Returned under warranty) put the new one on with filter and had no problem with it.
