1992 ford ranger gas tank removal - Ranger Ford Cars & Trucks

I've got a gas drip from my 18-20 gallon PLASTIC gas tank. I was told to remove the truck bed to get to the bolts that hold the support straps. So far, even after spraying the bolts with a releasing agent, I have nearly burned out an impact wrench, and have broken a 55 mm Tork bit that is needed to remove the bed - TWICE, to no avail. Would appreciate any suggestions on what to do with this problem

You might have to just grind the heads of the bed bolts and buy new bolts or get a set of torches and heat the nuts till they turn red and try to take the bolts out then with the impact gun .

Gas guage problem

Most likely the sending unit is bad in the fuel tank. The easiest way to get to it is to remove the bed. Taking the tank off is quite a chore. You can unplug the tail light harness and the license plate lights& take the 6 bolts out of the bed and 2 good men can lift the bed off. The fuel tank will be in full view. Take the sending unit out of the tank by unhooking the fuel lines, wiring plug and turn the lock ring counter clockwise and lift the fuel pump and sending unit out of the tank and replace it. Reinstall it and check to see if it is working before you put the bed back on. I hope this is helpful.

Engine problem starts and turn off

Someone would need to check base fuel pressure with a gauge before and after cranking the engine.
Could be the fuel pump, filter, or the pump relay.
