you can also find a PDF version of the manual on the internet for free - do a google search for "ford windstar pdf owner's manual". You'll have to sort through a couple of pages of bogus hits, but you should be able to find it.

Battery dyes after not running 48 hrs+ ? 2003 Windstar minnewan.

There may be a factory service bulletin (FSB) for your Windstar that can correct the problem. It took three battery changes and replacement of a rear wiring harness to fix my 2000 Windstar. Also, using the rear blower and leaving it on with the vehicle shut down may be the source of the problem

I have a ford windstar 2000 LX and it won't start! Please help me!!

Hi,
Ok first you need to make sure that the battery was put back in correctly. Positive terminal to positive battery cable. Then if that is correct, check the main fuse's right next to the battery area, they are large and square ensure non of these are broken, or fused.Check all the fuse's in the other fuse box in the engine bay area and also inside the vehicle.
Let me know how you get on.
Thanks
Jason

Radio

a lot of times factory defaults on the radios is something like 0000 or 1111 or something like that. If not, you can pull the deck out and reset it.

Radio wires differ from the speaker to the radio

This is the most common problem with self installs. The best thing to do is to get the car radio installation plug,it will plug into the factory plug for your factory radio and will give you a color coded pigtail to wire into that usually matches up perfectly with new aftermarket car radios. If the wires are already cut then you best bet is to extend the wires so that they are easy to work with hookup the power, ground, antenna and try dirrerent combos to isolate each speaker and label the wires accordingly.

The radio is in SAFE mode....

It has to be the wrong code. You have to take in to the VW dealership, (because of so many stolen radios), they will have to verify your registration. Then they will remove your radio, get the serial number put it in to VW hub<( dealership only VW repair site), and retrieve the correct code. Even though the code shown is in your owners manual should have been the correct code sometimes radios get switched. Question at the end you said you pressed seek- did you hold the right lower arrow button, (scan), in till radio began to play?

How do I remove the radio from a 1998 Windstar

If its the factory Ford Radio then you'll need a pair of these removal tools: http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/151/sfID2/175/productID/1111

Should be about 5bux or less from your local Wally World.

Very simple-
Put the tool in- 1-per side.
Push outward while pulling back.

Factory stereo code

Factory radio codes are an anti-theft deterrent, they are unique to each radio and car serial number, in order to get the code the dealer will have to access the manufacturers data base, you will need to pull the radio and record the radio model number and the serial number of the chassis of the radio and take it to the dealer, they will not in most cases give the info out over the phone, this would defeat the whole purpose of the code.
