Could be the key. security transponder is inside key, if new key used or damaged original key used, the signal from it is cut or signal blocked by metal keyring etc, engine will not start, or will start but stop a few seconds later, with a flashing security light on left hand side of dash display. (has picture of a key on the light, normally goes out when correct key used.)
if not this, check:
very low battery charge or faulty battery or connectors
fault in starter motor or solenoid
blown underbonnet fuse, or ignition system relay.
(UNDER BONNET ON RIGHT HAND SIDE)

For your mazda problem you must to check the followings
1- chech fuel filter
2- check electric fuel pump
3- put switch on you must to hear a click if no so there no electric power on pump in this way take out electric fuel pump and tested if not work so you must to change it by new one and also you must to change the fuel filter by new one.
this is the best way for start your car and let me know if every thing ok

Why does nothing happens when key is turned to start?

You have a faulty ignition switch relay. It's responsible for using a low voltage signal (key in start position) to send full battery power to your starting circuit.

Just had a similar problem. Brake (stop) lights and horn didn't work. Couldn't find mention of stop lights in fuse chart. Found horn fuse to be slot 21 in the engine fuse block (not the fuse block in car interior). Replaced 15A fuse and all now ok.

i own a 2005 mazda 3 with 6 CD and you should be able to push the load button the player will scroll through what is in the player and then start flashing a # where it is going to put the new CD, this is when you can load,But if your player is already full it will not allow you to add anymore without ejecting one
