I have starting problems with my 2000 S10 with a 4.3 V6. The truck only has 42,000 miles on it and has been very well kept. I bought the truck last summer from the 2nd owner and didn't have any issues until early fall. The second owner said that the only issue he had with the truck was intermittent miss. The truck will sometimes start right up and run for a couple minutes and then stall. Usually when it does this it will stall 1 more time and then will run fine. Some times it will not restart at all, but when you try it again later on it will start immediately and run fine. When I first started having problems with it starting and couldn't get it to start at all I changed the ignition module, the distributor cap, rotor and plugs. It still wouldn't start so I had it towed to the local garage. They checked all the wiring and didn't find anything wrong. The mechanic put another ignition module on it and it still wouldn't fire. He said that the truck had fuel pressure and the ignition was firing but the injection wasn't pulsing. He had another S10 in his shop at the time and swapped everything thing he could think of to try to narrow down the cause. After about a week he gave up and I had him haul my truck to the Chevy garage. When they unloaded the truck off the rollback the damn thing started right up. The mechanic at the Chevy garage took the truck in and changed the distributor cap and rotor again and said it was good to go. Since then I never know if it is going to start or not. Like I said earlier when it starts it will usually stall at least once. It seems that if it runs for more than 5 minutes it is good for where ever you want to go. I have never had it stall on me when I was going down the road. Some times it will fire right back up after stalling but usually you have to crank on it for a while. I can hear the fuel pump running and shutting off when it reaches pressure so I don't think it is a fuel problem, in fact when I couldn't get it to start at all I gave it a shot of gas directly through the throttle body and it still didn't attempt to start. When the Chevy dealer had the truck they said that the computer didn't show any codes to tell them what was going on.

Sorry for rambling on for so long. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Phil

Fuel Filters need to be changed EVERY 15,000 Mi and oil changes once a year maybe, maybe every two years
Common Problem for the cargo is that the distributor gets moisture in it due to the vent being plugged up, And the Cap and rotor have been Known to cause your symptoms use only GENUINE dELCO PARTS IN YOUR VAN TO ASSURE THE PROPER PERFORMANCE

2000 chevy express 3500 van with a 350. Hard time starting. When it starts runs beautiful! Will only start after several taps of the key as if you where setting timing. Not with key fully turning over....

sounds like the check valve in fuel pump is allowing fuel to drain back out of lines. this would require ystem to prime up each time it is cranked. check fuel pressure it should hold with key off if it leaks down this is problem and pump will need to be replaced

2006 chevy 2500 express cargo van .What is a good oil pressure for this van. it has 150,000 miles runs great

60psi cold / 30-45psi warm is ideal. I've seen (with that mileage) 45 cold/ 20 warm and that's acceptable - anything less start thinking about a new oil pump.

Clean fuel, clean filters, clean pvc, and since its a '99 try an emissions flush, your e-vap canister is most likely cloggeg, or even a faulty egr valve,
