Question about 1995 Buick LeSabre

Power Steering pump replacement

I mistakenly replaced the power steering pump on my 95 Buick LeSabre (turned out the harmonic balancer was bad) and now I think there is air in the system. The power steering works ~80% of the time. I've tried to bleed the system by lifting the front end and running the wheels to the right and left. Any suggestions?

If you have power stering oil in it its normal for the pump to be noisy its air that make that noise continue to drive air will come out by itself after a few kilometer it will go away if you have enough oil thanks pierre

The problem you have is the Harmonic Balancer. When it goes, the drive belt slides. There is a way to check it using a chalk mark on the balancer. Drive and the chalk line will be broken. Means you need a new Harmonic Balancer.

I don't know what your vehicles problems are

What is knocking? Not a steering pump!

You change the entire pump, not the pulley

I would get a second opinion

.....I have to go under my car and touch a screw

You need a new starter, your starter will come with a new solenoid on it. You have several things wrong from your description, but I can't for sure tell you what it is until the starter is replaced, replace the starter then tell me what it does and I will help you to the best of my ability. It sounds like your car is spark knocking, or low oil pressure which can be affected by many factors. If it is power steering fluid leaking, it is probably just the gaskets, during idle or driving range if it is leaking it can be thrown anywhere on the engine, even the opposite sides. The harmonic balancer can be visually inspected, if it wobbles or doesn't turn like it should it is bad. The best possible advice would be do a complete overhaul. I would change the starter first though and see how it acts then. Hope this helps.

Serpentine belt route

There should be a sticker showing the routing on the radiator. But if not, it is like this, left to right.

Over the power steering pump.
Under the tensioner wheel.
Over the alternator.
Around the AC
Over the water pump
Under the harmonic balancer on the drive shaft.
Back up to the power steering pump.

I hope I haven't forgotten anything.

Power steering

Support front wheels off ground. Chock rear tires, get an assistant for safty. Start engine (do not put in gear) step outside of car and manually turn wheels left and right by hand. Cut off engine. Turn key back to release steering lock. Manually turn wheels by hand again. If it requires the same ammount of strength to turn wheels, then Rack and Pinion is bypassing internally. Solution... replace rack & pinion.
