Dodge Caravan 3L. Starter wont turn over. There is energy in the battery as the headlights and signals work. I don't hear any click from the selenoid, can this be the problem. Where is the selinoid located? What does it look like? Where is the starter located? I saw somwthing that looked a very large Alternator. Is that the starter? I would just call a mechanic, but I'll be lucky to just be able to afford the parts. Thank you for your help

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
The starter will be located at the back of the flywheel. There are two bolts that holds it and be sure that you remove the cable that leads to the positive battery connector. Yes the starter solenoid can be bad that's why the starter won't kick. Have it replaced and observe how it goes.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2007 Dodge Caravan won't start.Batt. is good, all lights work, Turn key, solenoid clicks and stops, all gauge needles slowly move to max., and return to min. No codes displayed.

When you try to start it do the lights dim way low, have you been able to start it with a jump from another vehicle, unfortunately, chances are the starter needs to be replaced. How many miles does it have?

Wont start, just clicking when i turn the key why?

The battery could have a dead cell, or you could have a bad connection somewhere.
A mechanic would check for 12 volts at the battery, the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch. Also check the ground connections.

My 2002 dodge caravan wont start i turn the key and nothing

Start by cleaning battery terminals try to start if headlights are bright and nothing check the starter relay by the fuses stick the same type from another circuit or a spare one where it says spare. Try to start if the lights are bright hit the starter with a hammer a few times while someone has the key turned if it starts you need a new starter. If lights go out recharge battery or replace battery

I have a 2004 Dodge Grand caravan that won't start. (60,000 miles) I hear a clicking noise and my gauges go "crazy" when I turn the key. (Speedometer goes from 0-120 and back to zero when I turn...

Sounds like a classic case of a dead battery. It takes much less energy to sweep the gauges and turn on the lights than it does to crank the engine over. The clicking noise is usually your starter solenoid trying to engage and spin the starter. Try a new battery. Happy motoring.

Good luck.

The dodge caravan will not start one out of 6 times. them you try again and it starts. l checked the battery and the starter. what could it be? lt seems to have power and then none and then it will start...

when you turn the key and it doesn't start can you hear the starter turn the engine over or do you just hear a single click and the engine is not turning over. If you hear the click and the engine does not turn over a new starter will usually take care of it.

My 1996 Dodge caravan won't start. There's a clicking sound near the fuse box under the hood when i turn the key. i have checked the starter/solenoid. Any suggestions?

OK...this definetly sounds like the starter/solenoid, but not because it is faulty, but possibly due to low battery power......this clicking you are hearing might be the starter relay........what checks have you done already
