My 1998 Honda Civic DX is rumbling when it turns on and then I here a clicking noise when I am sitting at a light. The engine just vibrates when the air is on. They put freon in and then the rumbling went down and it wasn't idling so bad. Today I wake up and the clicking noise is back and the vibrating is intense. When I turn off the air the engine doesn't vibrate so bad but there is a small vibration coming from the engine. What is going on????

I know how to Fix this.I had the same problem yesterday.I took it to the Shop and he said it was low on freon. He put a little in it then when I stoped it would die and you could hear the engine lugg hard.Well I took it back he didnt bealeve me but when I reved the engine the presure went to red.The Problem is cheap to fix go to the car wash and use the sprayer on degreser first let it sit for a sec then put it on rinse and blow the Condensor out if you have the hood open its the thing on your right it sits beside the radiator. You have to blow it out good buggs and road trash clogged it up totaly and when it does that it can't give up the heat when stoped. The A\c absorbs heat from the inside and gives it out through the condersor.Freon has a real low boiling point and the compressor jacks up the presure then it goes to the Evaperator in your dash it forces the liquid threw a tiny hole and then it flashes to a gas and absorbs heat.If you have ever filled up a refill butane lighter it gets Ice cold in your and its the samething. Most cars condensor is larger alot larger but not the Civics.Half of mine was blocked after I did that my air is colder than its ever been now and also if you keep running it you will burn up the compresor when its like that.Just use the simple green engine cleaner and rinse for about 5 min.Try that first that guy up there told me I needed a new condensor coil and everything for 1200 bucks.I went back and showed him and he was PISSED.

To clear up something the condensor is the thing on the right with the hood open.If you look down it is right behind the bumper and grill there is a Fan on the back side in from of the engine that is what pulls air through it when your stoped they dont run when your going pretty fast. You will see some High presure hoses coming from where your belts are and the hose goes inro the top there is a cap and it that is the high side it will be marked H on it..Dont worry about getting water on the fan or even the engine just no water on the Spark plug wires and the other electrical things like the battery. You need to be careful dont hit the coil and if its a real strong spray stand back it will bend the fins do that for 5 mins really good.

The engine keeps sputtering , i thought the fuel filter though it was real old and dirty a new filter hasnt helped its been cutting out as i accelerate it doesnt stall or idle bad just as i accelerate...

I'm Assuming that the engine is not misfiring but just a bog or a pause under acceleration. If so quite possible the TPS (throttle position sensor) is faulty. Then maybe airflow sender?

I had a similar problems with my saturn, at lights and stop sings i would get a low idle and almost like it was about to stall.

1- the delar will tell you it may be an altornator problem, this is most likly not it.
2- SPARK PLUGS, i changed mine and my engine ran a lot smother and less "almost stalling" (also wont hurt to change your spark plugs.
3- fule injectors and filter may be clogged and dirty. Replace both.

all of this you can do by your self with less then $200 and and about 3 hours for every thing. Take your time plan out your route and ask the guys at your local car parts shop for more advise.

ok this sounds easy when you ran the vehicle the computer controled the idiling motor now that you replace the idiling motor the computer hasnt been reset to except the new parameters
once you reset computer this should bring the idle back down to its specified idle
you can also adjust back of gas pedel the idle cable and on the throttle body by the idling screw
