Question about 1998 Honda Civic
My car tries to stall (but hasnt yet) when i idle with the a/c on
I know how to Fix this.I had the same problem yesterday.I took it to the Shop and he said it was low on freon. He put a little in it then when I stoped it would die and you could hear the engine lugg hard.Well I took it back he didnt bealeve me but when I reved the engine the presure went to red.The Problem is cheap to fix go to the car wash and use the sprayer on degreser first let it sit for a sec then put it on rinse and blow the Condensor out if you have the hood open its the thing on your right it sits beside the radiator. You have to blow it out good buggs and road trash clogged it up totaly and when it does that it can't give up the heat when stoped. The A\c absorbs heat from the inside and gives it out through the condersor.Freon has a real low boiling point and the compressor jacks up the presure then it goes to the Evaperator in your dash it forces the liquid threw a tiny hole and then it flashes to a gas and absorbs heat.If you have ever filled up a refill butane lighter it gets Ice cold in your and its the samething. Most cars condensor is larger alot larger but not the Civics.Half of mine was blocked after I did that my air is colder than its ever been now and also if you keep running it you will burn up the compresor when its like that.Just use the simple green engine cleaner and rinse for about 5 min.Try that first that guy up there told me I needed a new condensor coil and everything for 1200 bucks.I went back and showed him and he was PISSED.
