Yes that is part of it but not everything With the belt being loose the alernator cant not keep up with the supply and the demands that vehicle load has placed on the battery. Light wiper maybe the heater fan and probable radio. Now just dont tighten that belt when belt are loose it glazes and heats up rapidly now if you tighten the belt just inspect it if it is worn replace it like cracks or threads coming out if it look good go ahead tighten it it shouldnt squeel anyway. Now do you have a charging gauge use that as reference is it charging ?no gauge okay is battery light on? Run it for 5 minutes turn off for 5 minutes. Do you have to boost it to start? If you did the battery could of given all it is capable of giving may need to replace it, now how about the alternator hoping you have a battery gauge on the dash or voltmeter if you dont that okay tighten it for now any need to boost will be battey/alternator Hey do you want to check alternator with a screw driver and can you do it safely the vehicle has to be running get a real long a real longer screw driver but thin and it has to be able to stick when a magnet is placed on it , Here what you do as the vehicle is running the back of the alternator there is a bearing as it creates a charge a magnetic flux is developed this create a magnetic charge if you detect that magnet the alternator is charging. No magnet not charging. by the way if the alternator has a rear shield you cant do this test
