Question about Nissan Z

Open Question

Problem with Nissan Primera Camino CVT: When starts it misses until it warms up. Also the orange engine warning light goes on and off at will. Mechanic has run a diagnostic on it, but is stumped . the car has only done 52000 km, and is a Japanese import.

1998 Nissan Primera Camino station wagon - engine light stays on mechanic says something wrong with transmission/sensors, thinks certain models were recalled because of this fault - slow to start off and slowly gathers speed

Mine was doing exatly the same. must be the sensors. my dad took them out hardwired something to fool the circuit and then reset onboard computer (he got re-programmimg cheat sequence of the internet somewere). I sure there is proper way of fixing it but no mechanic could produce a definite answer as to what the problem is and how much would it cost.
Goes nicely now. Light still on (cos poor thing thinks something wrong with the sensors I guess)

SOURCE: hello. my 2000 4runner v6 has been running rough.

Change your oxygen sensors - they're responsible for feedback that the computer uses to determine the air/fuel mixture. They usually are good for about 60k miles and then start to go downhill. When they get to a point that the computer won't trust them, it ignores them and runs on preprogrammed fuel maps that run excessively rich (too much fuel) to safeguard the engine. You've probably seen a decrease in fuel mileage as well. And the O2 sensors have to be up around 900 degrees before they'll work - the car ignores them until then. That's why you run fine after a cold start but run rough once the car is warmed up.

The O2 sensors you want to change are in the exhaust system between the engine and catalytic converters (the "pre-cat" sensors). There are O2 sensors after the cats as well, but those are used comparatively to determine how well the cats are functioning. The primaries are the ones used for fuel mixture. If it's been this way for a few weeks or so, I'd put new spark plugs in as well - rich fuel conditions can foul them and contribute to the rough running.

As for the limp mode unless you have an expensive diagnostic system this usually has to be done by BMW (anything to get ya to a dealership!!). The comms problem, is the key turned in the ignition?

2012 Juke CVT issue when below freezing temps

I wonder if the fluid level is a little low. As it warms up it expands a little, and when you shut it off and start again, the level is up because it's still warm. System resets and all is good until next time.
Or maybe there is an electrical issue. I say this because it's intermittent.

Nissan primera 2005 1.8 sx goes limp mode at night with lights and wipers on. No measurable battery or charger problems. Switch off lights and the problem goes away instantly.

The only thing these components have in common is the ground wires. There are many grounds on a vehicle. But the main three are the battery to body, battery to engine and engine to body. These are fairly large wires/cables. They should be checked with an ohm meter. I replace or repair any wires that have more than 5.0 ohms of resistance.

My car is nisaan primera 2001 cvt transmission the car problem is while you are driving is shudderring i dont what is the main cause ?

the transmssion fluid may be degraded. you should change the fluid wih the exact recommended fluid that the dealer specifies. this may help unless the transmission is too worn out already. is the check engine light on? if so have that checked out first.

Nissan primera, engine management light permanently on. When car is first started gearbox changes without a problem. when the engine gets warm it sticks in 1st or sticks in 3rd and 4th and won't change...

Hi Kev,

Your Nissan Primera has an on-board diagnostic computer which can detect malfunctions in either engine or transmission.

When the Engine Management light remains lit, this means some faults are present and need investigating.

From what you've described, one of the issues is indeed related to the transmission, but you will need to have the trouble codes (DTC's) extracted from your vehicle's computer, in order to determine what requires repair.

Whenever power is disconnected (i.e. the battery) and re-connected, this resets your vehicle's computer momentarily, until such time as it detects the fault again.

Recommend you either have your local dealer extract the codes (for a small 15min labor fee), or learn to extract the codes yourself, using a suitable jumper wire.
