I have a 03 Alero 2.2L and the clicking sound of the turn signals kept going on even though I wasn't using them. I located the hazard switch and replaced it and that seemed to take care of that but now I...

If this turns out to be an electrical wiring problem, it will be a doozy!

I once found a problem with a friend's tail lights doing crazy things, signals bouncing all around, blinking when they shouldn't and so forth, reminds me of yours. He had replaced bulbs in a tail light with entirely wrong bulbs, was a two filament bulb (you know, with two little button terminals on the base) in a one filament, single contact button socket...or maybe vice versa, was a long time ago, but was the wrong bulb anyway, and caused that whole side of the rear lights to go crazy and just about drove him crazy too. Does this sound eerily familiar?
I would check the bulbs, make sure they are the right ones. Those corner lights, are they supposed to blink with the turns, or no?
Finally, and this may turn out to be your problem, you may have a bad turn signal switch. On American made cars, the brake light wire is routed through the turn signal switch. That's why they share the same filament in the same bulbs they work at...yeh, check the bulbs, then try a used turn switch from a salvage yard-just plug it into the harness connector without installing it first, and see if it solves the problem. If that not it, you will need professional help-and counseling maybe by then...no, I'm joking. Post back with what you find out.

The right turn signal does not work when I press on the brakes in my 2003 suburban

Its a turn signal switch gm has always had this problem. Next time you have problems try turning on the 4 way flashers if the bulb flashes it the switch last one costed me $300

Trying to narrow down issue with rear brake and signal lights

yes they are connected, but that means if there is an issue with either-one, then you SHOULD be having trouble moving the Shifter out of -Park- as well. If there is no change after the switches, I would suspect a Frayed Wiring harness somewhere down the line on the side that started working when the tire was changed.

My break lights do not work at all. 2000 Chevy Lumina- We dont know where to begin to trace the wires we tries tracing them from the rear and couldnt find the right wire. The center light in the window does...

i am CONFUSED? you say they dont work, then you say "when you press down on the brake that the switch for the lights causes them to go off instead of turning them on when messing around with it but couldnt figure this out"........ if NO brake lights work, then check fuse 23. . if the fuse is GOOD then check wires at the brake switch. Orange should have 12V, when brake pedal is pressed then the WHITE should have 12V and lights should be on. the center rmounted stop light (BACK WINDOW) has 2 bulbs, make sure they are good. The center light is wired differently. If the center light works but brake lights do not, the turn signal switch could be bad. I assume THE TURN SIGNALS are OK? IF the turn signals are working OK, the wiring between the turn signal switch and the brake lights is GOOD

Hi: I have a 1998 Chevy Blazer 4.3 The brake lights and turn signals don't work.... HELP

Sounds like you have a bad multiple function turn signal switch. A couple things to try With your foot pressing on the brake pedal, Press the four way flasher button up and down, press and hold it down, pull up on it, or wiggle it. If the brake lights come on during any one of those replace the switch. With the key in the run position pull, push, the turn signal lever slightly. If the turn signal or brake lights start to work replace the switch. Let me know if none of those work, they usually do, and I'll get you some more in depth diagnostic info.

Brake lights quit working on the driver and passenger sides but the top middle lighgt works.running light and back up lights work no blowns fuses good bulbs. very puzzeling!

I recently had this problem,it appears to be in the emergency flasher button.at first no brake lights but center one worked. the emergency button was stuck and hard to move but once i got it loose i had all brake lights, so thinking my problem was solved i checked all lights and then found i had no signal lights, i went bach to the flasher button because it was still very hard to move and pressed down further and all lights work now so i think this will cure most turn and brake signal problems. the flasher button is rarely used and collects dust so it starts to stick and when you dust your dash or bump the button it will stick between contacts and the lights stop working. hope this helps!!

Gear not shifting out from P + brake lights are not working

the brake light switch to me is your problem the shifter interlock solenoid is not releasing because there is no brake signal from your switch, and obviously no signal no brake lights ether, I recommend you replace it, it is very simple to replace simply twist in place, it is located close to the pivot mechanism at the brake pedal, be careful there are two switches down there one of them is for cruise control if you have it (used to send a cancel signal when pedal is pressed) you want the one with more than two wires to it. good luck and I hope I was of help. study the switch a bit before removing connector and switch so you get familiar with it.
