Check your transmition for flued level ! If low fill to full line! If that does not solve the problem check your trans-axle by lifting and putting your front end on jack stands and have somebody engadge the tranny while you watch to see if they're functioning if they're not turning you got tranny probs. which is all too common in earlier ford products. I had a sable with the same prob.

Is the transmission fluid high on the dipstick? Will it go into any gear?If the fluid is high and it will not engage into any gear except park the you have a stripped pump drive spline in the torque converter. If the car has 80,000 miles or less the you may only need to replace the torque converter and front seal.I would recommend replacing filter and fluid also.Good luck!

When i put car in reverse makes a winding noise and wont shift an any other gears

if engine rpm advances (fast to 3000), and the car dont move
the tranny is bad (what part , dont know)

so did you get to 3000 ENGINE rpm and car didnt move.?
that is bad trans. its slipping
1: check all fuses
2: check levels of ATF in tranny
3: do the 50,000 mile full flush and filter. change and pray?
4: do the FSM stall test, It fails, bad.
5: step 2 in FSM after above fails, measure (gage) the tranny pump pressure. if bad pressure (2 tests) tranny is bad.

all that is in FSM
or alldata.com login and read ON CAR tranny tests.

I have a 2000 gmc jimmy and its 4x4. whens its in 2 wheel drive theres a loud grinding noise from the rear end and it wont go. i put it in 4wd and the noise stops and i am able to move. what could be the...

sounds like your rear differential has some internals gone or going bad if it wont move at all in two wheel drive then its probably gone sorry. the planetary and spider gears need replacement or the splines on the rear axles are sheared off take you diff cover off( be ready for about half a gallon of gear oil to spill out.) look real good at the axle shafts and gears try to move stuff around. if there is excessive play that could be your problem. hope this helps

Installed car radio now makes winding noise as i drive

This is the ground to the radio. What you need to do is hard wire the ground from the radio to a solid ground under the dash. The closer to the radio you get the better. Otherwise you need to put a noise reducer on the ground side to reduce the engine noise through your radio.

Won't go into gear, won't move

Sounds like the transmission.. If the axel was broke most likely it would still go into gear quite easy.. Bad axel would cause bad shimmy in front end.. Suggestion would be to take to a transmission shop and have checked out..

Transmission has fluid and will drive. but it will not move that fast and it makes a winding noise.

It has fluid. How much though? The vehicle should be running, warm, and in park. Then check the transmission fluid if it is fine after checking I'd start takin it to the transmission shop, or the junk yard.
