i have had the same problem intermittenly. i have taken it it several mechamics without any satisfactory answers. I have over 106,000 miles on my van. It still runs good aside from that. another associated problem you may discover is that the engine will sputter or **** sometimes on the expressway. Other than these inconveniences it doesnt seem to affect the overall performance. good luck

My chevy Astro, a 2000, started having a similar problem several months ago. It only happens after 20 to 30 minutes of driving, and only at lower speeds (not freeway speeds). The engine will suddenly die, as if not getting fuel, and it frequently won't re-start for several minutes, as if something is cooling down. Once it cuts out, and I get it restarted, I have to get home pretty quick because it will keep dieing every few minutes after that. Oddly, during Xmas holiday, when I was driving on wet roads and cooler weather, it did not happen even once. Also, in non-wet weather, on the freeway, it never cuts out, but will backfire once or twice in a two hour trip. Fuel pump was replaced in 2007. Have over 100,000 miles and otherwise runs great. Gas mileage hasn't changed.

Check the distributor cap for cracks. The crack will cause a misfire and the coputer will shut down the engine. Replace the cap and rotor button. Let me know if this helps.

You might have the front wheel bearing assembly going out on you. I had a 1998 S10 that did that and I replaced the bearings and it was gone.

Good Luck.
