The pcv valve is located behind the intake manifold, with some patience and small hands you can get to it. You must remove the 8 bolts holding the intake to the engine, there are several vacuum hoses and sensors that must be unplugged, the oil tube must be bolted, there is a hole in the middle of the intake with a bolt in it, tough to get to but it can be done with patience, there is also a bolt you will have to get to from under the vehicle. I removed the throttle body for easier removal and to go ahead and clean it. Removal is always harder then installation as you get familiar with the procedure.

Here is a little step by step

    Remember,

    1: unplug negative batter cable.
    2: remove
throttle body for easier removal of intake manifold, 2 water hoses on
throttle body, one sensor plug , 4 bolts. And tube from filter box 2
Phillips screws loosened. vacuum hose on that tube from filter box
also. And a sensor to unplug on that tube (maf sensor).
    3:
disconnect 2 sensors on intake manifold on the top front, disconnect 2
sensors plugs on bottom right side of manifold, there are 2 hoses above
the two bottom sensors you need to unplug, tricky part is removing the
wire harness from the manifold, very tight space there are two
connected to the front of manifold, and 3 on the left side.
4: remove 2 bolts holding dipstick tube to manifold.

5: now everything should be out of the way or movable to get the
manifold out. There are 8 bolts holding it on, 4 on the top, one you
have to get to under the car, one by the power steering pump(left side
lower), one through a hole in the middle of the manifold (the hardest
one i think) and one below the area where the throttle body was
unbolted. I also removed the retainers on the front of the car holding
the radiator and fans in place to be able to move them back to get it
out, you may need someone to push the radiator back as you maneuver the
manifold out, there is a vacuum hose on the backside of the manifold
that goes to the pcv valve, it is a mutha to get back on also when u
reinstall. Tight space to put it back on. I tilted the right side up to
get it clear that pipe going into it then lifted at an angle to get the
tabs past the fuel rail and it was out, took me about 3 hours to
remove, clean it all up and 1 1/2 hours to reinstall, I'm a little slow
    but i got it done.

When the manifold is out i used 5 old rags and stuffed them into the
holes so a catastrophic accident don't happen. Make sure the areas are
clean and no sand or dirt may be there.

I believe that is all of it, if you get stuck you can email me and i will try to get back to you fast if possible.

How to replace AUDI (VW) PCV valve

PCV is an acronym for positive crankcase ventilation.
The PCV Valve is a very common replacement item on many engines today. It's called the PCV valve for short but it stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. When your engine spins it many times collects pressure in the crankcase area, and it has to escape to relieve pressure on the motors bearings and seals. The PCV valve and PCV system is typically located near the intake manifold, and many times comes right off of the valve cover. It is very simple to replace the PCV valve, and you can do so by simply unscrewing it, and screwing in the new valve. We recommend using a little bit of teflon tape or paste to make sure you do not get any oil leaks.

How to replace pcv valve

  1. Pull the PCV valve from its housing and place your thumb over the PCV valve opening. You should feel it click. If the click sounds or feels mushy, replace the valve. The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation)valve is a one-way valve that recycles crankcase gases back into the engine to burn.

Location of pcv valve on 2008 ford taurus 3.5

On 3.5L engines, the PCV Valve is located on the rear valve cover (see pictures bellow). Please note: the PCV valve must be replaced if it's removed. Access to the valve is easier if you remove the upper intake manifold. However, this is not absolutely necessary and if you are already a little mechanically inclined you can do it the way you would replaced any other PCV valve.

-A 19mm open wrench will make your life a lot easier if the PCV valve is a bit tight. It is in an awkward spot to apply pressure.

-Disconnect the electrical connector from the valve. There is a small pin or locking device on the wire that you will have to slightly depress for the connector to release.

-Disconnect the hose from the valve and turn the hose clockwise so that you have a bit of room to work with.

-Turn the PCV valve counterclockwise and remove from the valve cover. Pay close attention to the position of the valve at the point when it is to be removed. The new PCV valve will go in at that same position. Why is this important? It is possible to install the PCV valve facing in the opposite direction. Once the PCV valve in and locked it in place, it damages the locking mechanism. Therefore, if you remove it you will have to throw it away and purchase a new one.

-You just saved $130 - $150 to have the PCV replaced at the dealership...

Remove PCV valve from rocker cover. Run engine at i
dle. Place thumb over open end of PCV valve to
check for vacuum. If there is no vacuum at valve, c
heck for obstruction in manifold port, hoses or PCV
valve. Repair or replace as necessary.

Turn engine off. Remove PCV valve. Shake valve and
listen for rattle of check valve inside. If a clear
rattle is not heard, replace PCV valve.

Visually inspect valve for varnish or deposits whic
h may make PCV valve operation sticky, restricted o
r
cause incomplete seating of valve. Replace if neces
sary. An engine must be sealed for the PCV system t
o
function as designed. If leakage, sludging or dilut
ion of oil is noted AND the PCV system is functioni
ng
properly, check engine for cause and repair as requ
ired to insure PCV system will continue to function
properly. An engine operating without any crankcase
ventilation can be damaged so it is important to
replace PCV valve and air cleaner breather at regul
ar intervals (at least every 30,000 miles). Check a
ll hoses
and clamps for failure or deterioration.
