If this is a van you will remove the cover from inside the van. The center cover comes out and you will have full access to the engine. Your manual should show you how to remove it but it is usually very simple. Hope this helps.

Installing a distributor in a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9 LT

Replacing Distributors: 1998 to 2005 models
  • Trace the spark plug wires to the distributor; it will be at the back of the engine block, in a cramped space.

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to the distributor and unhook the air cleaner tube. Unscrew or unhook the clamps holding the distributor cap in place, and unscrew the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor connector with a screwdriver.

  • Matchmark the distributor housing and the rotor for later realignment, as well as the distributor housing and the intake manifold. Unbolt the holding clamp and remove the distributor.

  • Set the engine at Top Dead Center (TDC) mark of the No. 1 cylinder compression stroke with a socket with breaker bar (long-handled ratchet).

  • Install the Ram distributor, replace the clamp and lightly tighten the bolt. The distributor part number is A1303801 from Parts Train, but numbers differ from different manufacturers. Order using the model, year and engine size.

  • Turn the distributor in its seating so the rotor lines up with the No. 1 cylinder mark on the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor. Bolt the clamp bolt to 200 foot pounds (22.5 Nm).

  • Reattach the CMP sensor connector and use the screws or clamps to replace the distributor cap. Connect the air cleaner tube and the negative battery cable

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 and need to replace distributor cap. and roter Can anyone tell me where it is .

What size of engine do you have? OR you can follow the spark plug wires. Start at the engine, put one in your hand and follow it to the other end. Where it stops is the top of your distributor cap. If you have a 5.2L engine it will be on the top at the back of the engine, you will have to remove the air filter to get at it.

How hard is it to install pickup coil in the distributor of a 2001 dodge ram 1500 pickup.

The pick-up coil/stator is easily replaced in a dodge distributor, and once you have removed the distributor cap and the ignition rotor, then just dis-connect the wire connector from the pick-up coil/stator and lift it straight up and out of the distributor, and the distributor does not have to be removed or dis-assembled to replace the pick-up coil/stator. There are two alignment tabs on the pick-up coil/stator that will match up with the distributor cap when the pick-up coil/stator is properly installed. Here are two images to help assist you.

On my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 2WD, I just found

This is a very simple job to do. Raise the front of truck off the ground, block the rear tires. Using pliers and a hammer, remove the grease cap from hub. Remove the cotter key and nut from axle, pull out slowly and remove outer bearing. then remove hub from axle. To remove inner bearing ,prop hub on a board and use a large punch to drive out bearing and seal. Clean out inside the hub and install new bearing and seal. Replace all parts in the reverse as you took them off. Hope this will help you.

1995 dodge ram 1500. shuts off and wont start until cools off.

These Dodge trucks are known for the pick-up inside the distributor going bad and causing this symptom. The pick up module can be bought at any local parts store such as Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts. It is fairly simple to change. Just remove your distributor cap, Take of the rotor and you will see the pick up.
