Start problem - 1999 Chevrolet K1500

I checked all fuses, everythings looks okay.. Only four or five days ago my engine wouldn't start.. So I let it crank for maybe 5 - 10 seconds and it starts.. I don't want to spend a bunch of money trying to figure out the problem, so I came to the experts at FixYa... Any ideas?? Thank you

By the way, this truck is a 2004 Chevy Tahoe V8 5.3L..2wheel Drive..

Also ...after replacing the pump (check for fuel pressure first, as the pumps are expensive) try to remember to not run the fuel really low ...try to keep at least 1/4 tank all the time...these pumps use the fuel to keep them cool....running the tank low can overheat the pump....frequently pump failures occur right after filling a very low tank....cold fuel shock to to warm pump

Unfortunately most likely your fuel pump is going out. Tahoes are notorious for the fuel pumps going bad. One word of advice spend the extra money on a GM fuel pump and don't go with aftermarket because the labor is quite expensive and if the new pump goes out in six months you are out all the labor again.

Won't start how ? When your the key to the start position what happens ? The engine spins but won't start an run . this a crank no start condition . If nothing happens when you turn the key to start ,this is a no crank no start condition . Need to be clear on this so we know what to have check . If nothing happens when turning the key to start position ,try moving gear selector to neutral - park neutral safety switch . If when you turn the key to start an the engine does spin but doesn't start an run ,check for spark ,fuel pressure . see what's missing .
