My 2003 Yukon tries to start but won't turn over. I can get it to start by just continually trying to start it. The starter is good and the connections or also.

Hi, This may not be a solution so don't rate it if it doesn't work! I'd suggest that you check that the cables to the starter have clean and tight connections - and also that the earthing / grounding cable from the battery to the chassis is also making a good connection. The poor connection is likely the one which gets hot when you crank the engine. Many people buy a new starter motor when all they need to do is to clean the battery connections to the starter itself and to ground.
Hope this helps you a bit. D.

Battery could be low, can you recharge the battery and then send more information.

I try to start my Lincoln town car and when I turn the ignition on the electrical battery system goes down but won't turn over. I have installed a new car battery

You would need to take a meter or test light and check for power after the battery. You could have a bad connection inside one of the cables.
There should be 12 volts at the battery post and at the cable end on the starter. Also be sure and check the ground connections.

Car won't start. New battery installed recently. Only clicks when trying to start.

one single click any time you turn the key usually indicates a bad solenoid on the starter. A new starter will typical get you going.

A series of rapid clicks when you try to start usually indicates a weak battery. There could also be a bad connection at the terminals on the battery or even a poor connection at the starter.

If you get a single click and everything goes dead for a couple of seconds than you definitely have a bad connection at the battery.

Let me know what you find or if you have any questions.

2002 chevy silverado 2500HD if i try to start my truck it cranks but will not turn over.

If the starter is turning, but not turning over the engine, then you will need a new Starter because it is not engaging.
  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Unbolt the wires to the starter, taking note of where they go.
  3. Unbolt the starter from the motor/transmission.
  4. Take the starter to Autozone, etc. to get the starter tested.
  5. Install the new starter.

I am having a hard time starting my engine. usually it just goes "CLICK". i turn it off again and do the same. sometimes i pound my fuse box or the battery. i had a new battery installed already and the...

It sounds like you either need new starter brushes or a new starter. If you turn the key and the starter just clicks, try tapping gently on the starter with a metal bar. If the starter then turns over you should take it out and replace the brushes or put in a new or rebuilt starter. When you have to start tapping on the starter you may only have a few starts left.

Starter Problems

If it cranks at all than you probably installed the started correctly. You need to check and clean the terminal ends on the battery and at the starter. Turn on the head lights and try starting. If the head light get real dim or go out than you are losing conductivity somewhere.
