I just bought a 2003 Jeep Wrangler with 30000 miles on it. On the way home from the dealer, it started misfiring. They took it back and are looking for the problem. They are being honorable dealing with this and offered to return my money. I want the Jeep. It is extremely clean for a 2003. So far they have replaced the computer, replaced the injectors, done a valve job. The computer analyzer shows that one cylinder is not firing right but no other problem. Any ideas that might help solve this problem? Thanks

Okay fine here is what they have missed.Did they scope the coil. Did they identify a coil limiter as it ramp on the scope. They need to do that ,why simple coil are heavy amps it takes out ECM when they didnt find it. Valve job is not the problem why they did that I dont know (warranty money I think). Heres how you help them what cylinder did the misfire occur at. lets say 3 . Now ask is it a lean misfire if it is. repair the vacuum leak at the Map sensor that will cause a misfire. That is if it is 4.0 engine or 2.0. What gets me is do they use the first pulse sensor and are they capable of using diagnostic equiptment. come on 2003 Ask them is it a lean misfire and what are the kv and let me know me and you will fix it that is if you want it. Give me the data stream warranty pays what do they got to hide

1995 jeep wrangler wont go in gear

Actually, in some cases, the transmission may have a problem shifting only sometimes, if your TPS, VSS, or any solenoid on the transmission is going bad. an intermittent problem could be the case; and sometimes, it's just a loose wire.

Check engine light and knocked off rockers

Running rough and misfiring is usually a one or more bad spark plug wires. Don't go back to that dealer. Replace the wires or have your mechanic do it for you. If you replace them, take one off at a time and install the new one. If you put the wires back on in the wrong order, it will misfire.

im a tech in the bronx and i dealt with the same code for the misfire. burt i realized that there wasnt any power to the coil of #2 cylinder. I replaced the sensor mounted on top of the air filter box, which solved this problem.
