Yes it is your fuel pump. Just for giggles try this next time you get in a bind turn the key on and the fuel pum will go on but dont start it just cycle it. and you hear the pump as you cycle it it build pressure and get easy to start. Why does it work at first crank the fuel pump shoot out pressure the then slowly turns(Manufacture design because its in the fuel tank) . when the fuel pump weakens you cant realy floor it and take off it just stumbles or worst stall. If it was a crank sensor, cam sensor, ignition control, you wouldnt drive home youd be towed home.

Cranks but wont start

This problem can be from the Inertia sensor. On Lincolns, the Inertia switch is usually close to the Air-ride cut-off switch in the trunk. Or behind a front floor kick panel.

There is a reset button on the switch. Check photos on the Web if you want to see what you are looking for.

94 camaro v6 engine and the idol runs at 2000 rpms, runs even higher if heater switch is turned on. shop cant figure out issue any ideas?

Not much of a repair shop

Use the codes & reference material to diagnose
the problem

No reason a repair shop can't do that

Leave it there until they drive it & the light comes on

They have a scan tool & have to use it on a road trip
& record the data

Are the spark plugs wet with fuel ? are they black ( fouled ) ? You don't have the money to take it to a shop ? But do you have money to replace a bunch of parts that don't fix the problem ? I could tell you a number of thing's that could be wrong , but without testing that would be guessing . Mass air flow sensor , ignition control module , crankshaft position sensor , How's the battery voltage ? Low voltage can cause problems , You said thought starter went . slow cranking ? Battery cable's , connections etc.... Does your brother know how to use a volt meter ? Voltage drop the starter circuit . Starter Voltage Drop

pumping the gas pedal does nothing but open a butterfly to give air to the engine, possible that the pump you got is bad or the fuel pressure regulator is bad , its part of the assembly

2000 LINCOLN/LS/3.9L V8 FI DOHCwont start ticking noise

Have the battery terminals checked - sound like a loose battery terminal. As u go over a bump it can cut out the engine then u dont have a good enough contact to run the starter. Get someone to try to crank as you wiggle the battery leads if it cuts the lights on the dash intermittently theres your prolem. Also check the ground wires to the motor.
Hope u get sorted

Cranks but wont turn over

you know. i took it to a mechanic and actually.... The timing belt cut the Crank Shaft Censor... So it was the crank shaft censor again. The wires were routed wrong from the first mechanic that "fixed" the car.
