Question about 2000 Hyundai Sonata

Fan Switch needs replacement

Have a 2000 Sonata GLS V6. My fan switch needs replacement. It doesnt work in 4th position unless I play with it (contact shorting?). The dealer wants $185.00 parts & labor! I was wonder how hard it would be to access the dash and change the switch? It looks as though I only need to remove the center dash paneling / facia (wood grain plastic) to get to the switch and pull a few connected wires. If anyone can confirm this I'd appreciate it. Does the paneling / facia come off w/ screw driver wedged for leverage to unsnap it from the dash. Do I have to remove anything else first (knobs, hidden screws etc.)? Is there a service manual online that I can view anywhere?
Any assitance is appreciated.
Regards, Carl //

You can try to have access removing center facia panel
(then disconnect air temperature switch connector).

Condition of timing belt on 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6?

You would have to proceed like you were going to change the belt until you could see it to inspect it. Here is a link to instructions on inspecting and replacing it.

A/c doesnt work on low fan

There is a blower motor resister that has gone bad, also check the blower switch on the back, the connection could be burned ,the blower motor causes this to happen, even though it sounds ok,it is drawing to many amps.

Trying to replace serpintine belt but air conditioner pulley seems to sit lower than it does on diagram

I do not know what Diagram you are referring to. Also I am not sure if you have the Sonata with the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4, or the Sonata GLS with the 2.5 SOHC V6.
In any case:
Click on the following Free-Direct Link. It has the Serpentine Belt Diagrams. Compare these with your Vehicle and/or Diagrams you have.

Blower fan will not change speed or turn off and seems to be stuck in the 3rd highest position. Even when you turn the automatic climate control to the off position the fan continues to blow. Changing mode...

Switch needs replaced in dash. you will have to take it out of the car and put a new fan switch, should work in all positions, and since its stuck that would be what I would replace first, not sure on procedure. http://hyundaisonata.com
