have same problem. immobiliser light flashes, engine cranks but doesn't start. problem is intermittent

  • cherrypieiss Aug 24, 2008

yeah same problem here aswell... its done it for about 12 months, in the last 3 months ive had engine warning on occasionally

from what ive learnt both problems have to do with an airflow problem, sensor or even exaust leak... some kind of air problem :P,

anyway its the only prob iver ever had with it

I have had this problem> I solved it by removing the key from the ignition and using the remote to to lock and then open the car. Put the key back in and start the engine. Works every time for me.

Hundai Tucson 2006 starting or stop problem

Engine stop without warning, more highly failure is the cranksensor signal dropping out, when it fails you have this problem, when you crank it and the crank signal cannot put out the required signal the ECM triggers the alarm.Becuase it doesnt know the vehicle is cranking.

How do I reset oil change light

For a 2005 trailblazer to reset the oil change light you will need to make sure all doors are closed then turn key on and slowly push gas pedal to floor three times within five seconds, this must be done within 5 sec, from the time you turn key on, the key must be on so all dash light are on its right before the engine start postion, after you push gas pedal to floor three times the light will flash a few times then go out. the system is now reset, if it doesnt reset then repeat steps starting with turning the ignition on, take note engine must be off, not running, have a nice day and i hope this is helpful.

"Check Oil" warning light comes on at randum

Probably nothing whatsoever to do with you checking the dipstick. On the golf when the warning light flashes, you reset it by opening the bonnet. That is why you think that when you check the dipstick it resets, when in fact it was opening the bonnet. Check your bonnet switch

Maintence light is blinkin when i start my car

Generally, the maintenance light should come on for a few seconds, then go off after the car has started. All of the dashboard warning lights do this so driver can tell they are operational. (Should see brake light, low oil pressure, airbag warning, etc. Any of the lowly "idiot" lights should come on.)

As a test, turn the key on, but not to start. All of the lights should flash on for a few seconds, sometimes in sequence, then go out. Now, sart the car, some lights may come on and back off. If none stay on after a few seconds of engine running, you are probably ok.

MY CAR DOESNT WANT TO START UP..THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD GOES ON. RADIO ON..BUT IT DOESNT START! SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT 5 MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN.THEN IT STARTS UP?? CAN ANYONE HELP ME? KIA RIO 2002

hi..
Many cars these days are equipped with an immobilizer. (you can find more information about the immobilizer in your owner's manual). The immobilizer allows the engine to run only if the correct key is used. If your car has an immobilizer, you probable see a "Security" or Key-shaped light coming on on the dashboard every time you turn the ignition ON. If this light is flashing when you turn the ignition ON, it could mean that there is some problem with an immobilizer or the system does not recognize the key. If the immobilizer doesn't recognize the key, the engine wold not start at all, or would start and then die in few seconds.
You can try a spare key, if it won't work, your dealer is the place to call. Sometimes, the key is just need to be reprogrammed. On some cars you can find the information how to reprogram the key in the owner's manual...

2007 Volvo S80 V8 Sedan Service reset light

Install remote/key into socket.  Push and hold trip button on instrument cluster with all doors shut.  Push start button one time for key position one while holding trip button and count to five.  keep holding trip button and hit start button to key position two where all the warning lites come on the instrument cluster while still holding trip button.  Count to around ten and triangular warning lite should flash. Release button and remove key and then start engine.  May take a few attempts to reset this lite.

I have a warning light that flashes so fast I can't tell what it

Wow. Ok. That was a pretty rude response you received there form r_clark. Let's see if we can find a reasonable way to help you.

When you first get in your car, instead of starting it right up, turn the key to the "on (or run)" position. With the key on, but the engine off, most of your warning lights will light up and stay lit. Some may go off after a few seconds. Draw a quick sketch of the layout of your dashboard before doing this. Then, with the warning lights all on, jot the name and location of each one on your sketch. The next time you are driving, when the light flickers on and off, you should have a fair idea of what it is.

Also, if you are in the process of actually starting the car when this happens, keep in mind that when you turn the key through "on" to "start" and then release it, the vehicle's self test for the dash will turn all those warning lights on, then off, briefly. Certain important lights will come on last and only flicker on briefly. As long as they are doing that during start up, they are ok, and it just means the lights are working properly. If they are actually flickering on while driving or idling, then you have a problem, but likely not a serious one yet.

Hope this is helpful, good luck, and let me know how it works out!
