You might just have to back off on the brake adjuster, as it's possible the brakes are 'over' adjusted, so they are slightly engaged, which would explain the sound you hear. If that doesn't work, let me know, we'll try something else. countrycurt0

Rear brake locks up at slow speeds on 2001 cavalier

i would have the rear brake limiter mechanism checked first as this device regulates brake pressure so it is equal to both back wheels, if this is ok i'd check that the wheel cylinders aren't sticking and that the brake shoe assembly has been replaced properly

1997chevy cavalier drum brakes rubbing

yes it is dangerous but an easy fix. common mistake when doing drum brakes is an improper adjustment or faulty part the brake adjuster is installed incorrectly or the brake wheel cylinder is not releasing do both sides of the wheel cylinder press in if not replace check the E brake for proper adjustment as well as some have self tensioner and would need to be backed off for new shoes

How do i take off the brake drums on a 2003 chevy cavalier

After you remove the tire, the drim should slide off. If it doesn't then try using a rubber mallet and gently tap on the outside edge as you pull on it. Sometimes you also need to tap on the drum in the center part. I have sprayed penetrating lubes like WD-40 or PB Blaster into the seam at the center. You may also have to back off the parking brake cable or even use the adjuster to back off the shoes.

sometimes if you leave the bleeder screw open it will gravity bleed the cylinder.Make sure master cyl is full and do one wheel at a time.I have seen this work, I have done it.

2000 chevy cavalier, when turning left makes

Check the under fender. Sometimes the black plastic will come loose around the wheel area. Turn your wheels to the left and see if the tire are rubbing close to any part of the fender area.

1990 Chevy cavalier is only running on 2 cylinders, My husband changed the spark plug wires and the coil case with no change to cylinders what could the problem be. It is a 4 cylinder and the engine is 1.8

well first you need to perform a compression test, this will tell you right up front of you have major engine trouble be it head gasket, camshaft, cylinder rings etc. First things first what do the spark plugs look like after it has benn running for a while??

Chevy Cavalier 2001 ABS Brake problem

You don't say what brakes.

I have had many cavys and worked on them. Great cars.

Your problem sounds like a **** rear wheel cylinder and bad drums/rotors and abs sensor wire.

My car just did everything you describe, I put in new wheel cylinders, drums, brakes, rotors, and 2 new rear brake lines. For less than 200 bucks the car is like new again and has well over 100k.

You can do it yourself. Doesn't take special tools. I followed online how-to's.
