I really don't think you mean the crankshaft, that is what the pistons are hooked to, it turns up and down motion to circular, you have pull the engine apart to get that out.

look just behind the downpipe of the exhaust manifold. right at the 2 oclock position of the bellhousing top on a 4.0 when looking at it from front of the car, yes its behind the lip at the hardest place to get to. or access from under the car. i prefer the tip though

I thought i lost the timing belt. It stalled like it. but its all good just wont start

Did you crank it over or try to turn the crank shaft and see it the cam/s turned. After that look at the crank sensor. Have the codes read first.

Car cranks but wont stay running

Only a few things will cause a stalling first is crank position sensor and second is the mass air flow sensor followed by the fuel pump or relay. you need to first find out if your fuel pump output is 45psi i it has good fuel pressure then i recommend you replace the crank position sensor.

Van runs good then stalls out. then hard to start. If i let it sit for 5 minutes it starts again no problem. Then stalls again shortly there after.

This sounds like a failing camshaft position sensor and weak crank shaft sensor .When crank shaft sensor gets weak it will stop functioning. When crank shaft sensor stops working then ECM will not control fuel system and the fuel will stop flowing. And this can cause the problem. When crank shaft sensor gets heated it will stop working, but when the car shuts off, the sensor gets cold and works for few minutes and sensor again gets hot and it stalls. ---------- Get the crank shaft sensor tested on your Chevrolet venture. ---------- There are many other possibilities for this stalling problem, but crank shaft problem is indicating in your case. I have a 2000 pontiac Bonneville sle and it was running fine it stalled yesterday on me n after a bit started back up and ran fine the rest of the night, This morning It started fine and then 15 mins...

I had the same problem with my 2000 Bonneville SLE and I replaced the crank shaft sensor and it solved the problem. The crank shaft sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer. You have to take the balancer off to get to the part. You will need a puller to get it off. You will also have to take the fly wheel cover off and hold the fly wheel when you remove the nut from the front of balancer.

is the check engine light on !! if so scan it for the problem code to find out what area to start at. but it does sound like a bad crank sensor. here are the symtoms of a bad crank sensor,--- shuts off while driving down road and wont start for at least 10 minutes and also. timing will be out of sync. more than likely engine will not start. ( engine backfire )or irregular RPMS. if vehicle starts at all, it controls timing and sends info to pcm. no spark or pulse at injectors. have a good day !!

I was at a redlight and my 06 pt cruiser stalled and wouldn't start again. it is getting fire but the engine wont turn over. We replace the crank shaft senser. it is still doing the smae thing

Have you had it checked for proper fuel pressure? If you have proper spark at each plug, the likelyhood of it being fuel inceases greatly. Let me know what you find and what you may need from here. Happy to help.
