I have a 2003 mercury sable with 45000 miles on it and the trans seems to shift rough at times and it seems to drop into a lower gear at times leaving the engine to bog a little when i hit the gas while...

Low miles for year may mean car sitting most of its life.. Flush rad and trans to ensure no blocked or cooling issues.. Check blogs for your make and model for common problems change trans filter any signs of past over heating? Fliud and trans filter may show signs of this... TAKE OUT TRANS INPUT AMD OUTPUT SENSORS in most cases can be cleaned of metal fine debree or just replace as the magnet often get shining metal film on them causes shifting delays or slow downsshifts... Check trans filter condition if solid hard dense often caused by over heating ect.... Start with basics clean flush and maint do let low miles assume something serious a car that doesn't run evry day or open up on highways often become troubled vehicles in need of maintenance.. Good luck every thing written here sounds like nice car got some maintenance issues... Based on year ans low miles would be my guess unless some beat vehicles in last 1000 miles even then basic maintenance should resolve the issues many times there 6 problems in one so get rid of the basic ones first.. Change rad fluid and check for blockage in lines that go from rad to trans!!!!!!!

How often do u have to change your tranmission oil and engine oil, and which type is recomended( toyota corolla 06)

its in the owners manual about suggested change times but as a mechanic of 27 years i have seen hundreds of failures due to dirty trans fluid. having it changed yearly is a good investment considering a new or used transmission runs about $1200.00 to$ 2800.00.

Frequency to changing transmission fluid on 2003 Corolla

I'm not sure about Toyota's specific recommendation but when I ran my service station, we changed trans fluid at the 50,000 to 60,000 mile range. This covered most manufacturer's requirements at the time. Hope this helps.

Code P0741 for the diagnostic for Toyota Corolla 2006 = Check engine light came on. 129,000 miles

This is a torque converter clutch solenoid code internal to the transmission. the computer has detected a fault in the operation of the solenoid. It will need to be diagnosed by a trained technician and may very likely require internal trans repairs.

Transmission fluid change

It differs with use but for a rule of thumb you can look at the fluid on the dipstick against a white cloth and if it brown to black looking not a reddish color you should have it serviced.Either a drain and fill or a complete trans flush if it is black.Your trans will thank you

Hi. the car is kicking due to the 1st to 2nd gear upshift in the transmission. Corollas are famous for this kind of behavior when it comes to the transmission. Some of them kick when upshifting, some of them downshifting, And some of them make a humming sound when they do so. It doesn't mean the trans will fail. Just make sure you do the usual fluid checks, and as long as it still look purple, you'll be fine.
