Question about 1999 GMC Suburban
I can't get the fan clutch off. I've removed the bolts but it won't budge. I am replacing the water pump.
Fan clutch screws on to the water pump. You can loosen it with a big adjustable wrench (it is about 1 1/2" or 1 9/16" hex). Leave the bolts for the pulley in so you could wedge a screwdriver under a bolt head to keep the pulley from turning. Give the wrench a hard **** to loosen and it should turn off by hand. Right hand threads so you will be turning it counter clockwise to remove.

I leave the belt on and use the tensioner pulley to hold the belt tight as i hit the adjustable (monkey) wrench with my BFH
