Fan clutch screws on to the water pump. You can loosen it with a big adjustable wrench (it is about 1 1/2" or 1 9/16" hex). Leave the bolts for the pulley in so you could wedge a screwdriver under a bolt head to keep the pulley from turning. Give the wrench a hard **** to loosen and it should turn off by hand. Right hand threads so you will be turning it counter clockwise to remove.

Pulling a fan clutch assembly from a GMC 4.3 water pump?

First remove the fan from the clutch. There should be four to six bolts holding the fan to the clutch. The clutch is held on to the pump with four bolts. remove the four bolts to remove the clutch. I've included a pic of the pump to indicate the four mounting holes. Not sure if the link will work.

Water Pump Leaking

the hardest part of this job is removing your fan clutch. you removed your top fan shroud, then your fan clutch, its reverse thread. take off your belt, upper radiator hose and 6 10mm bolts hold it in. clean water pump housing and put all back together. aftermarket water pumps do not come with theermostat, dealer pumps do. remove your belt tensioner from old water pump 3- 15mm bolt, two different sizes and install on your new pump. you need, 10mm socket, 15mm socket, flat head screw driver, pliers to removed hose, fan clutch tool(rent at autoparts store)
