Question about 1995 Pontiac Grand Am
I have a 95 pontiac grand am when you start it it wont idle you have to give it gas and its backfiring a little when you try to drive it the engine power is weak and the muffler is getting red hot i dont think its the fuel pump or filter doing it so what could it be
Try changing the coil cover. It happens to mine at least 1 time a year. If it's the 2.3 L Quad 4. Best wishes to ya.

This is caused because a misfire, misfire will be caused by defective or misrouted spark plug wires, make sure to check the firing order, on the plug wires, and if you just replace the spark plugs, then most likelly the wires are misrouted, and the cat gets hot because unburnt fuel like runing too rich, and will be related with misfire.
